1. Let’s start with the fuckery. What’s an ideal morning for you? Do you talk trade while laying down and would you consider that pillow talking?
Braz - usually I wake up and within first 30 check my record from last sim since spencer does like 2 am. From there I’ll check back in around 10. trades all day
breakthewalls - I wake up at 3:30pm, so my day always starts with getting my son up from his nap. After that I'll usually get on and check stuff.
Brophdog88 - Ill talk trade whenever wherever, an ideal morning is one where i roll over and start working, night owl, so I tend to stay up as late as I can. Do my best trading at night, miss the morning hours. No its not pillow talk talking trade while lying down, yes I do it, unless you REALLY want the trade to happen.
Lasagna and tears of failure Since I wake up typically way before my wife on weekends, I guess trade talk. During the week, neither of us wants to get out of bed so we push it to the last minute (me 550am, her 615am). I never talk trades when lying down though as I dont do mobile for the league.
Galo - Ideal? Some morning head for sure followed by checking boxes on an undefeated sim from the night before and some outrageous trade being posted that triggers a post pad. That gets the juices flowing for me. Trade talk can be considered pillow talk but don’t really engage in that too much.
2. The Nets reset by winning 42. Are you shocked?
Braz - no not really surprised at all. Surprised it was this close. Loy really helped
breakthewalls - Not that shocked, his team was pretty good, but after some of his trades I thought he got worse. He got hot right when he needed to.
Brophdog88 - No, they had all the hallmarks of a good defense, its just a bad offense that made it tough to win games consistently. 42 really shouldnt be THAT hard to get to, almost more shocked when its close, but Marty's starting spot was really shitty.
Lasagna and tears of failure I thought Marty had dug too deep a whole, but he was shrewd on a couple trades, and I also saw what Stump brings a team last year, so I knew he had a shot.
Galo - A little I guess. I said 50/50 before the start of the season and it came down to the last sim where he needed to go 4-3. Those 2 wins over the Hawks were big but wonder if he would have reset with DBW didn’t deal Fisher at the deadline to Seattle.
3. The Celtics came to closest out of the 4 CY teams to reset. Should they have tried harder to reset this year?
Braz - I think they did try hard and it didn’t work. He’s looking a lot better than lums.
breakthewalls - I think I should be a lock to reset if I can snag a good big with my lotto pick, there just wasn't a good deal to be had at the deadline. I was looking at only getting a guy like Cyril and similar old guys at the time, who I don't think would have made a difference.
Brophdog88 - Ehh, I mean, he still had his lotto, so its probably a good thing to pick up that one more asset. its gonna pay off with Groza it appears too, so that should help him put quite a good team out there. Im not huge on Gish, I love the rebounding, the rest is pretty blegh, so maybe he should have tried a bit less.
Lasagna and tears of failure He should have tried less hard. The trade giving away a lotto and ruining his other pick was stupid.
Galo - I think his DC was crappy to start out and then I didn’t think Rip Gish helped them much. I think this year will be easier to reset than last year assuming the Cavs and Hawks tank.
4. The 76ers are, essentially, a blank slate. Assuming they don’t land the top pick, what chances do you give them?
Braz - I don’t think it works out well but he has assets and there are a lot of guys on the market; Lewis, cyril, Edwards, gabe Jackson Suggs
breakthewalls - If they don't get Bill he's fucked imo
Brophdog88 - If he lands #2, he should still be able to get there, he just might have to move Elgin for talent. if he falls to say, 4/6, things are gonna be rough. Tom and Naulls are nice, but its tough to see where that talent is gonna come from overall. I feel like FA had a lot of whiffs on people resigning, so the FA class isnt gonna be that great, on top of the draft populating this class being pretty abysmal it seems. If they get Elgin, I say 70/30, if they go sub top 2, its 50/50, the picks should still have pretty good value, sign a FA or two, and in business. If RJ doesnt retire though that sucks.
Lasagna and tears of failure - Even with the top pick I give lums no chance, unless he trades for Red and wanzer.
Galo - Man, I don’t like Lums situation at all if he doesn’t land Russell and/or Elgin. I guess he could get Mikan for 3 1sts and then take on some contracts but he’s got to be strategic about it and not hard cap himself like last time with no depth. I’ll give him 50/50 to make it at this point.
5. What do you believe has a higher chance to happen, JR quits/gets fired during the season or the Warriors reset?
Braz - I think better chance they reset bc I don’t think he’s one to quit mid cy
breakthewalls - JR will quit before he gets CY'd
Brophdog88 - Uhh, probably the former, seems to be no signs of life, didnt have their pick, didnt try to grab talent to win, do anything, not a good sign to be 5th overall and not have your own pick going into a CY. Dont see them resetting, could see them not showing up and getting fired due to no effort.
Lasagna and tears of failure JR not noticing anything has the highest probability. Sadly
Galo - JR quitting probably. He’s been checked out for a while. I don’t think he’s into this anymore but maybe he proves us wrong.
6. What do the Rockets need?
Braz - just the lotto. Once they see they will likely let the dominos fall for other moves
breakthewalls - looks like PG is their biggest need to me
Brophdog88 - SF, and then we will look at PG. LaMelo was quite good for me over the last two sims, if he sticks around, happy with him, and if not, Tomsic with camps is going to be plenty competent, thanks to FBB and non passing PG's. OUtside that, I probably need to look for a true Center backup, if I dont move Ray, if I move Ray, then a full PF/C backup, since both bigs I have tend to play a bit low minutes wise. Im happy right now with the team, still trying to improve, but Worm was a big first step.
Lasagna and tears of failure another year. Think broph should get one too.
Galo - Now that he has Worm, probably another scorer. Not sure if Buzz is ready alongside Sharman. LaMelo is okay but he’s probably going to regress. Ray Felix is like a Bulbs type SF. I think they’ll be okay as long as they can defend, rebound and keep their turnovers down. I wish Broph would have top-2 protected his first though for Worm.
7. With two east and two west CY teams, which current playoff teams are the most likely to fall off?
Braz —I think my teams been falling off heavy since moving hayes but we also had injuries. Based on eddys posts seems wolves too are falling off but roster seems deep.
breakthewalls - Raptors are rebuilding, Cavs look to be to in the east. I don't care about the west unless they can give me a player tbh lol
Brophdog88 - East: Definitely the Cavs/Raptors are most likely, since they have blown it up. I only really see say, Portland and Phoenix in the west, but somebody needs to move for Mikan to make that last one happen. I dont see GSW pushing into the playoffs though. Portland with the reset probably needs to rebuild, but not sure his pick situation is great.
Lasagna and tears of failure the Heat. Eventually salaries catch up to you.
Galo – Two each? Hawks/Cavs and Blazers/Suns? Idk kind of hard to tell at this point.
8. With so many teams in their CY, do you expect it to be one of the busiest offseasons ever? What stars do you expect to move?
Braz - I think it will be fast and furious with a slow season itself
breakthewalls - It should be a shootout with this many CY teams
Brophdog88 - St. Cloud, Mikan, Wat, its hard for me to say busiest offseasons ever, since Skillz alone sometimes makes 30 tradesw in a day and Ive only been here for what will now be season 5 overall (1 gimme, entering #4 on CY). But there really arent that many rebuilding teams, a lotta retooling.
Lasagna and tears of failure - Red and Wanzer
Galo - Maybe. If some teams choose to cash in their players for CY teams. I just don’t if the JR’s Warriors will be that engaged at this point. Mikan should move at some point and potentially Mack Drexel as well.
9. Aside from the obvious top 5, what do you think of the rest of the draft?
Braz - I think it’s deep plenty of role players. Would love to get a top 13 pick.
breakthewalls - I think there are a lot of good players past the top 5 this year
Brophdog88 - I love Swede, so the top 6 I loved. Which is why its fitting I fell to #7 projected, because at that point, I feel like the draft falls off a cliff. Honestly, outside the top 2, I probably woulda traded the pick for Worm regardless, elite blocks/rebounds bigs are tough to come by here. Most of the types of bigs I like to work around also have some other flaw.
Lasagna and tears of failure - it sucks a bunch of dick
Galo - Seems solid. There should be some nice role players and sleepers in there. I’ve got my eye on a few.
10. What would you need to consider trading Bill Russell?
Braz - I wouldn’t plain and simple
breakthewalls - Cloud+
Brophdog88 - just Worm Namdor potentially. If I got Bill, in all honesty, I would not have traded him, I love elite bigs, so it woulda had to be something stupid (in other words, far more than just Cousy CC). the chance at him though, that I will trade.
Lasagna and tears of failure I'd never trade the GOAT. He is my absolute favorite player of all time.
Galo - I think the record is 8 1sts for Alonzo Mourning? I don’t know something to that level and maybe a prospect. The problem with those deals if you’re on the other end is clean the cupboard bare and you have no one to surround Bill with. I’ve been on that end when I had Duncan.
