1. How did your offseason go?
autumn harold : Gave myself a B. We didn’t have the firepower on the perimeter last season so I prioritized that. Happy to come away with Gabe and Noble obviously. Still trying to get Paxson back and give him his ACs, but we should score well once I get him. Hurts to move Groza but think the big rotation is good enough. Decent.
Braz - I’d say pretty good. We had two draft picks work out really well had the pot boost come to us and signed Eddie Miller. Also we dumped bronny giving us a max slot next year. Can’t really complain.
Stevie B - Went well. I would’ve loved to have landed a quality MLE/LLE but really kinda struck out there. The biggest thing for us was that we got our guys to re-sign on great deals for us (Calc, Call, and Hagan). The +20 potential to Hagan was the big one. He had an awesome camp, and should thrive this season. We have another shot at this thing I think.
2. Who won the offseason overall?
autumn harold : Hmm. Nobody really blew me away. Good offseasons for Royal, Chipper, Kobe. No major changes in the landscape of the league though.
Braz - I’d have to say other then Hornets getting another freaking top pick it has to be the Spurs. They got a lot better in their make or break CY season. What’s more important?
Stevie B - Pistons had a real strong one. They needed it, too. Acquiring Gallatin, Twyman, and Saul was nice! Gotta reset this season.
3. One TC in, were there any glaring misses or great picks that you see from this past draft?
autumn harold : Let’s see these guys sim first, but preliminary thoughts: I loved the Krebs pick. Think I would have taken him #1, but we’ll see how the other guys sim. Mid-round picks by Dan and Steve look great. Said this in my article, but didn’t like Brian’s pick at 10 or Andrew’s pick at 6. Play’s big and PG look great.
Braz - going to double down on my own pick of Ebben. He checked out after pre with 20/8 at SG. I didn’t like the pick at 6 or Brian’s pick at 10… rest seemed fine
Stevie B - Andrew whiffed pretty badly based off the initial TC. Harvey Schmidt looks awful. Aside from that, I don’t know. Didn’t really like Brian’s pick of Ray.
4. One of the biggest trades this offseason was Dick Throat Goat to the Wiz. Who won that deal?
autumn harold : I’d put Noble-Groza and Twyman-Naull ahead of that deal. Play won the deal. The PG he got will be a stud, and Buzz being loaded up and uncamped with potential left is nice.
Braz - wiz got the better player so them. Out of all the bulls players it seemed he wanted most value for Groat. Didn’t happen IMO.
Stevie B - Preferred it for Play. Buzz had extremely high potential and Play will tack on another +20. He also is going to get camped finally. Throat was v solid, but I don’t know if I loved it for Jah like others did.
5. The Heat or the field. Which is more likely to come out of the East?
autumn harold : I almost always go field with these questions but injuries are a bigger threat to the Heat than any team in the East. Heat.
Braz - Heat again sadly. This shit is getting boring. Need to have someone dethrone them.
Stevie B - Heat? For all this talk about how great the East is…they can’t sniff the Heat these days. Sadly think Kobe is going to come out of the East again.
6. The Spurs are currently the only team in CY. Will they make it?
autumn harold : Yes. Team is at risk of underperforming because it has zero depth, but too good to miss in the West.
Braz - yes of course it’s royal. This is also one of his better or maybe his best CY team.
Stevie B - Easily. West is terrible. Jr started 6-20 and nearly got in due to it being bad, and I think it only got worse.
7. The Wolves or the field. Which is more likely to come out of the West?
autumn harold : Field. Wolves are up there and there are few threats, but I’d give the Jazz, Wolves, and Kings each around a 20-25% chance of making it out.
Braz - the field. Shouldn’t this be kings or the field? Go Kings
Stevie B - Field. I like my chances a good bit with the hopeful emergence of Hagan. Eddy got worse this season. Still a strong team, though.
8. If we take a peek forward, the Grizz, Blazers, Wiz and Pistons might be in CY next year. Who resets this year and who is in the most trouble going forward?
autumn harold : I think Dan has another year, right? He reset two seasons ago and then was lotto last year. Grizz look like they will have an easy build. Good youth, lots of picks. Wiz have the pieces but are in a tough conference, so 50/50 there. I guess same for Pistons. They have a great core, but you need to have a complete rotation to reset in the East, and they need bigs and a bench.
Braz - well this makes the Eppa trade make a lot more sense… Rex is looking ahead and wants that quick reset. Blazers seem to be in trouble.
Stevie B - Blazers are good, I think? Pistons should reset this season, but it is Chip. Grizz have the assets to get a reset as soon as this season, but I have no clue what Rex’s plans are. Jah is too good at a DC and looking at boxes to get CYd!
9. Did the +10/+20 do anything apparent for whoever you used it on?
autumn harold : No. No one made worse use of the second +10 than me, but I decided to see if I could make something out of borderline nothing with it. Didn’t think the +20 made a big difference last time so didn’t want to be precious about this one. Rollins has a good baseline and is uncamped, so I figured I’d give him the +10 to try to help the threes develop.
Braz - I’m a bit disappointed I didn’t see the pot move at all but I think we confirmed the rating we see is scouted so I guess that wouldn’t change much. Both my guys playing real well so I’d say it helped.
Stevie B - Hagan went +3 and had a heck of a supersub ExSim. Think it worked wonders for him tbh
10. What should the 800k and our two year anniversary reward be?
autumn harold : Something totally different. E.g., a fun league-wide event rather than a reward. I was thinking we could do a splash FA where four or five guys enter and can only be offered MLEs, so that everyone has a chance at them. Everyone in the league gets to make a player and we vote on the five who actually get made. IDK—that probably won’t be popular, but I’d be interested in something novel that’s not necessarily just goosing players.
Braz - I’d love a great reward but also think we need to limit how good we make Bill Russel. We should get Spencer Martin PG on the file and every team entered into a lotto of some sort for other prizes vs a huge pot boost. Idk!
Stevie B - 2 year Anny should be big. I believe today is officially the anniversary of the first sim. Needs to be an extra AC or something. It’s hard because we just used added potential. I trust Spence to be creative with it, though.
