1. Denver Nuggets(from New Orleans) - LeBron James SF 6'9'' 230 19 B+ C+ C+ C+ C+ A
The Nuggets just traded Paul Pierce, Elton Brand and Allan Houston for this pick so they need it to stay in the top 2. If the pick stays #1 then I think that will be a win for the Nuggets as they will be getting the soon to be best player in the league. Obviously the pick here will be LeBron James no matter who ends up getting the pick. He is not only a franchise changing player but a league changing type of player with how good he will be at PG. LeBron will be the best player in the league in a few seasons time and will be unstoppable since he will be allowed to start at PG without taking any kind of handling hit. Everything about him is amazing. He might be a 3.5 tpg guy at PG to start but the rest of his game will more than make up for that. The rest of us will definitely be jealous of whoever gets LeBron.
2. Utah Jazz - Dwyane Wade SG 6'4'' 210 21 B C+ C+ C+ C A
After winning a title in the first season of the league the Jazz are now in heavy tank mode and couldn't have picked a better draft to get a top two pick in. Everyone is talking about LeBron, but Wade might end up being just as good if not better. He will be a cheat code as well since he can play PG and while he is a little older than LeBron he should still have potential through the roof. I'm more of a Wade fan in real life so I might would be happier with the 2nd pick in this draft. Wade's outside should be a little higher to start and should be able to reach A- a little easier than LeBron can. The only advantage Bron will have is that rebounding but other than that I think Wade's game will be just as good so whoever ends up getting 2nd pick shouldn't be too upset.
3. Dallas Mavericks(from Atlanta) - Chris Bosh C 6'11'' 235 19 B C C- C+ C+ A
It's a pretty big fall off from LeBron/Wade to the 3rd pick here but I still like Bosh a lot. He would be in consideration for the first overall pick in the first few drafts after his great draft notes. And starting ratings+age compared to guys like Pau and Yao as well. A lot of GM's will like Carmelo here but you have to believe the notes are correct and trust that Bosh is going to be a good shot blocker like they say. If he has the potential that he should then he should be a much better version of someone like Pau since he won't have a turnover issue. Love the inside, jumpshot and rebounding should be good after a few TCs. Just need to hope he is a 2 bpg guy and 1+ spg type guy and you have a potential superstar on your hands.
4. Milwaukee Bucks - Carmelo Anthony SF 6'8'' 235 19 B B C D+ C A
Whoever ends up with the 4th pick will have a pretty easy choice to make here as they will just be taking Bosh or Melo whoever is left here lol. In most drafts you would be super excited for a guy like Melo so to get him at 4 is still pretty good. Hate the D+ defense obviously but he has a few TC's to reach C defense naturally. And he will be a A- A- scorer and C+ rebounder pretty easily so elite when it comes to that but his handling should be an issue and that along with the defense is what makes him a notch below Bosh for me. The B B scoring will be super enticing though and I wouldn't be surprised at all if someone ends up taking Melo at 3 so getting him at 4 will be a pretty nice consolation prize for whoever ends up here.
5. Golden State Warriors - Kirk Hinrich PG 6'4'' 190 22 C B C+ B- D+ B
The Warriors traded away their two franchise players in Dirk and Chauncey and ended up in a nice spot as this pick might jump in to the top 4 for them. But if it doesn't I think they still end up with a really good player just maybe not a franchise changing one. Hinrich actually looks a lot and should play a lot like Chauncey so the Warriors should be pretty high on him. Big strong PG who can defend and handle and will be a knockdown shooter. Good all around player with no real weakness and in a PG depraved league I really like Hinrich going 5 here as I think he could actually be really nice. Probably won't be a superstar so I could see him falling down a few spots lower than this but PG is very important so I have him going 5.
6. Toronto Raptors - Josh Howard SF 6'7'' 210 23 B- B- C- B C C
The Raptors couldn't tank as effectively as they wanted with Tony Parker but if they end up with Josh Howard, I think they will still be pretty happy. Howard's ratings are great and all he will really needs is camps to become a starter basically. But if he doesn't have good potential which he probably doesn't, then that will hold him back from taking the next step to become a superstar. Still though with those kind of ratings to start he won't really need much help in TC and like i said if he just gets a +24 to his scoring then he will already be a very good starter in this league. Notes said his handling is good so that's big since he you can move him to SG and not have to worry about turnovers. Would have him at 5 if his notes were a little more exciting.
7. Houston Rockets - David West PF 6'9'' 250 23 B- C C B- B- B
The Rockets were another team that were trying hard to tank but couldn't quite tank hard enough because of DD and Marion. But again as long as they don't drop below 7 then I think they will still get a player that can contribute right away. West isn't sexy at all but Spence is a big fan of his in real life and gave him some pretty enticing notes to get excited about calling him a really good starter at PF. That's pretty high praise. So he should be a really good player with a high floor. Should be a 20 and 10 type guy pretty easily with the potential to become a really nice rebounder if TC goes well. Might not be a great shot blocker but he will be a 1+ spg and have great positional defense to make up for it. And he should still be a 1+ bpg guy so not like his blocking will be nonexistent.
8. Minnesota Timberwolves - Chris Kaman C 7'0'' 265 21 B- C- D+ C B- B
Minnesota is another team in the midst of another pretty long rebuild so they should just take best prospect available here and if notes are correct then that is Chris Kaman. His ratings don't really jump out at you but he has some amazing notes in which Spence praised his scoring, handling, rebounding and most importantly his shot blocking! Also said he is a starter in this league which means he have some nice potential as well. Juicy notes that if true it sounds like Kaman could be a 20, 12, 3 stocks type guy. Just how high his shot blocking really is will determine just how good he will be so will have to keep an eye on that since it will make a big difference in grading this pick. He would be a really nice fit next to Scola down low to provide some shot blocking and rebounding.
9. Detroit Pistons(from Philadelphia) - Darko Milicic C 7'0'' 250 18 C+ C- C- C+ C+ A
Detroit just traded Chris Webber in a deal for this pick so looks like they are in for a long rebuild. Normally wouldn't consider a guy like Darko at all in the lotto but the draft is pretty bad at this point and Pistons are just beginning their rebuild so might as well take a chance on someone like Milicic when the next best options don't have a ton of upside. Darko's notes mentioned he might be a good shot blocker and at just 18 if he DOES have high potential then he could be a really good big man. I think Darko might have a chance but I'm just not a huge fan of the Kwame Brown, Jay Williams type prospects because they never usually seem to work out. But maybe since Kwame isn't good, Spence will make Darko a good player? We'll see.
10. Orlando Magic - Leandro Barbosa PG 6'3'' 194 21 C B+ C C D+ B
It looked like the Magic would end up with a top 5 pick to start the season but end up at 10 here which is a big drop off from having a top 5 pick. They should probably trade this pick but if not just go best player available and at this point it is probably Barbosa. I'm a huge fan of Barbosa's in real life and I was glad to see he was gonna be able to start at PG here. And given his starting ratings, he could become one of the best PG's in the league. C+ A type scorer is very easy to see if he has any kind of potential and gets all of his scoring camps. Notes indicated he will be a stud basically if his handles are good but even if he is a 3 tpg guy then I think he will still be a very good starting PG. His passing should be extremely low so I think his handling will be fine since his rating is at C. No defense or rebounding help but after a few TC's he shouldn't be that bad of a liability.
11. Seattle Supersonics - Jose Calderon PG 6'3'' 200 22 C B B- C D+ B
Seattle should trade this pick for talent since they are entering their CY but if they don't then they should take Calderon for sure here. I would probably take Calderon 2-3 spots higher than this but this is where he will probably end up in the draft. I was a big fan of Calderon irl and think he could be a starter in this league right away if he gets his camps. Having C B is a great scoring base to start with for a PG and he should reach C+ A- pretty easily. And his handling is great in real life so that should carry over here as well. I don't mind the defense and rebounding that much it isn't as big of a deal at PG as it is at other positions. And after a few TCs his defense and rebounding should be fine anyway. Only thing that could really ruin him is if he has shit potential but that's with all of these prospects.
12. Washington Wizards - Mo Williams PG 6'1'' 198 21 C B C+ C+ C B
I have a bit of a soft spot for Mo Williams since he played for Alabama in college but in a PG starved league and a thin draft class, I think this is where he belongs. Williams wasn't a stud in real life but if his handling is under control then he actually has a chance to be really nice. He should easily be able to become one of the C+ A- scoring PG's that we see succeeding all around the league and he has a great defense and rebounding base to start. I doubt Mo has a ton of potential but at PG he won't really need much. Just a decent TC or two and all of his camps and he will be a really good starting PG.. Just as long as his handling isn't too bad. That's the only worry here if Spence mentioned in his notes that he had no turnover issues then he would go much higher.
13. Phoenix Suns - Nick Collison C 6'10'' 255 23 C+ C D+ C+ B B
It looks like the Suns will probably end up trading this pick but if not they should just take the best player available and to me that is Collison. He will be the Udonis Haslem of this draft. People need to start valuing guys like this who are more of a sure thing. Collison really just needs one good TC then all of his camps to be a great rotational big man. High B+ or A- rebounding should be within reach and he will be a 2-2.5 stocks per 36 guy with good positional defense. Great jump shot so if his handling is good too he will be good to go. This definitely isn't a flashy or "fun" pick but you need guys like Collison on your team so nothing wrong with taking someone like him in the lotto especially since the talent pool is terrible at this point.
