1. Atlanta Hawks – 19-9
The Hawks are currently 19-9 and at the top of the East right now. As a team they put up 121.2 ppg. That’s around the middle of the league in scoring. They allow 118.5 ppg. That’s around the bottom part of the middle. They are being led by Newt Jones who is giving them 31.6ppg and only 1.0 tpg. That’s great numbers. He is also putting up 2.5 spg. The Hawks also have Dajuan Wagner Jr. giving them 28.9 ppg and 2.0 tpg. They have Slater Martin off the bench putting up 15.8 ppg. Don Boven is putting up a decent 17.8 ppg. There bigs’ play good defence and rebound. Amos Ashfort-Fleet is giving them a double double at 14.3 ppg and 13.4 rpg with 2.9 bpg. Zeke Zawoluk is also playing nicely at 9.6 rpg and 1.6 bpg. The Hawks have a great duo in Newt and Wagner Jr. If the can get a better small forward and another good shot blocking big they’d be much better.
2. Philadelphia 76ers – 19-11
The 76ers are 19-11 and 2nd in the East right now. As a team they put up 120.5 ppg. That’s around the bottom of the middle of the league. They allow 116 ppg. That’s around the top of the middle of the league. They are being led by the legend Bill Russell. Russell is putting up 24.2 ppg and 15 rpg with 3.2 bpg. Thats great numbers. Then you have J.L. Parks putting up 24.1 ppg but with 2.6 tpg. Kiyan Anthony is playing good too. He is giving the 76ers 22.5 ppg. Then they have George Mikan at 15.5 ppg, 13 rpg and 2.6 bpg. Carl Braun is also giving the 76ers 19.8 ppg. The 76ers have a really good team. Good well rounded team.
3. Milwaukee Bucks – 18-8
The Bucks are 18-8 and 3rd in the East right now. As a team they put up 129 ppg. That’s first in the league right now. They allow 118 ppg. Thats pretty much the middle of the league. They are being led by Bob Petit who is giving them 31 ppg and 14.6 rpg with 2.7 bpg. Really good numbers for a big. Then they have K.C. Jones who is giving them 28 ppg and 10.2 apg. Dwight Swails is also having a good season with 27.2 ppg and 8.1rpg. Mateen Davis is giving the Bucks 2.8 bpg and 10.1 rpg. The they have Jack Coleman at 12.8 ppg and Renato Cleaves at 14 ppg. Very good scoring team with solid defence.
4. Miami Heat – 17-10
The Heat are 17-10 and 4th in the East right now. They put up 126.5 ppg as a team and allow 119.8 ppg as a team. Thats fifth in the league in scoring and around the bottom in ppg allowed. The Heat have two big putting up 20+ ppg. First they have Mel Hutchins at 20.9 ppg and 10.4 rpg with 3.2 bpg. Then they have Alex Groza putting up 20.4 ppg and 13.1 rpg with 2.1 bpg. Elias Bauer is playing nice too. He is putting up 24.5 ppg and 10.1 apg. Heat also have Jerry Mullen putting up 19.7 ppg and Bulbs Ehlers putting up 17.5 ppg. They have a good well rounded team. I like the big man duo.
5. Detroit Pistons – 18-12
The Pistons are currently fifth in the East right now with a 18-12 record. They put up 128.2 ppg as a team. That’s third in the league in scoring. But they allow alot of points as a team at 124.7 ppg. They are being led by Jack Twyman who is putting up 28.6 ppg and 8.9 rpg. They also have Saul Mariaschin giving them 26.4 ppg and 8.5 apg. The turnover are a little up but nothing to alarming. Bill Sharman is also helping the Pistons out with 24.3 ppg. They have Harry Gallatin at 4 bpg and Uno at 2.0 bpg. Very good team. I like it.
6. New York Knicks – 15-10
The Knicks are sixth in the East right now with a 15-10 record. The put up 122.3 ppg which is about the middle of the league and they allow 117.8 ppg which is also around the middle. Knicks are led by Wat Misaka who is putting up 33.8 ppg and 2.4 spg. Very very good player. Mack Drexel is next with 25.4 ppg and 9.5 rpg. Then they have Zack Gross who is giving them 3.4 bpg and Marcus Frieberger is at 2.3 bpg. They have a very good team. Could maybe use another 20+ ppg player. Good team though.
7. Orlando Magic – 17-12
The Magic are seventh in the East right now with a 17-12 record. They put up 125.7 ppg and allow 121.7. Thats sixth in the league in scoring and the around the bottom in the league in ppg allowed. They are led by Frank Ramsey with a big 32 ppg. Then they have Will Maxwell at 22.6 ppg. Dolph Schayes is putting up 19.7 ppg, 12 rpg and 3.3 bpg, Thats big. Bob Reiter and Jackson Rizzo at giving the Magic 2.4 bpg and 2.6 bpg. Solid team. The defence can be a bit better though.
8. Cleveland Cavs – 12-13
Cavs are the last playoff bound team in the East at 12-13. They put up 128.5 ppg but allow 124 ppg. Thats second in the league in scoring but near the bottom in points allowed. Not good. They have big time scorer Paul Arizin putting up 30.8 ppg. Then Kevin Loathe at 26.2 ppg and ZZ Clark at 23.4 ppg. The have decent shot blockers in Sean Ellison (2.7 bpg) and Wah Wah Jones (2.0 bpg). This team needs to get better defensively. Decent team though.
