Hello Ding dong's! Let's dive into a 2039 First Round playoff predictions article, shall well?? Anyone else having a great Saturday?!?! Ok, enough small talk, let's boogie!
EASTERN CONFERENCE
(1) Milwaukee Bucks vs. (8) New York Knicks
Wow! A 60+ win team again in BBS. You really don't see that every season. The Bucks have dominated this season and rightfully so. Andy has put together a beautiful lineup from head to toe. I think the big acquisition that has put him over the top has to be AAF. He solidified his frontcourt with a big presence down there and really has helped this team go from very good to elite. The Knicks on the other hand are a tale of two seasons. Skillz started off competing but then in classic Skillz fashion changed courses mid-season and will begin a tank next year. He traded away a lot of key assets and ended up at the 8th seed but with a respectable 47 wins. Not bad for an 8th seed. This should be a clean series with the Bucks winning in 4 games though. I don't think the Knicks have a chance and I think the Bucks take this easily.
Predictions: Bucks in 4
(2) Philadelphia 76ers vs. (7) Atlanta Hawks
Damn! 76ers hit 50 wins! All lums needed was one more season. How sad! Obviously the 76ers have big Bill and George with some really good defensive guards and wings. That is one of the better front courts you will see in BBS. I guess you could say that no matter who is next to Bill. The Hawks on the other hand are a unique team. Not elite by any stretch of the imagination or very good but they have solid pieces and a mix of vets and guys in their primes. The season series was split 2-2 and honestly I could actually see this going either way with a Hawks upset. But since the 76ers do have Bill, I think they in the end will seal the deal.
Predictions: 76ers in 6
(3) Cleveland Cavaliers vs. (6) Miami Heat
OOOOOOO! What a saucy first round matchup! Cavs vs. Heat! Svedda vs. Kobe! Let's gooooo boys! Are any of these teams good? Honestly I haven't paid much attention around the league this season. Cavs looks pretty fun. I can't believe ZZ Clark is still in this league. Heat are pretty nasty as well. Coming off a run of championships they still have some guys leftover. The Cavs have won the season series 3-1, too. That usually is a sign but not all the time. Going of my ass here...BUT I think this series goes 7 games.
Predictions: Cavs in 7
(4) Detroit Pistons vs. (5) Orlando Magic
CHIP VS BIG G! oKAYYYYYY! Chipper put together a 49 win team, the 4th seed, and finally a playoff roster without his pick. Good on you brotha! Galo is rocking my main man Frank at the 2 and former Clipper champion and Blazer Will Maxwell. This is going to be a pretty even series and basically come down to who can make the 2nd half adjustments in their dcs! Honestly, this is a coin flip. It can go either way. Am I losing my mind? The Magic and Pistons only played 3 times in the regular season? How is that possible. I thought everyone played 4 times. Pistons have the edge there. Who knows...pulling this out of my ass!
Predictions: Magic in 7
WESTERN CONFERENCE
(1) Sacramento Kings. (8) Los Angeles Lakers
Oh hello boys! A matchup with two great lads. One with a great team and one with a not-so-great team! Hey Nanz, you knocked out Royal! Way to go, you jerk! Let's change that narrative that I did it. I DIDN'T MEAN IT! Anyway, Kings look niceee. Not 62 win Bucks nice but they look good. In their last 10 games, they have gone 3-7. Not ideal coming down the stretch. Hopefully they can change course come the playoffs and right his ship. Honestly, this series with the Lakers might just do that for them. I like how nasty defensively this Kings roster appears to be. Great work by Stevo. I think Nanzs' Lakers will have trouble against this lineup in the end and it will be tough to overcome!
Predictions: Kings in 5
(2) Minnesota Timberwolves vs. (7) Memphis Grizzlies
Another lopsided series imo. Definitely don't think the Grizzlies have enough to keep up with the T-Wolves personnel. Between Big Mac and St. Cloud this Twolves roster, while old, has SUPERSTAR power on it. Gotta love Big Mac. I miss him. It was such a long long time ago. Twolves also have one of the better defensive squads in the league. They will shut down the Grizzlies and have easy walk to the next round imo.
Predictions: Timberwolves in 4
(3) Houston Rockets vs. (6) Dallas Mavericks
Again, no idea who is playing well, or who is even on some of these rosters. I gotta look through them. This Rockets team looks pretty solid. Won 50 games. Nice! Monk man had a hell of a season. He turned into a nice little player (Sorry Nanz ). Rockets are a pretty good defensive squad and Ricky Francis is still scoring in bunches for them. For the Mavs, they had a casual 45 win season with Red Rocha still doing the damn thing and leading this squad. Top 2 in OPPG. Which is pretty damn good. New-comer/rookie Hot Rod Hundley, the 2nd overall pick in last years draft, had a Rookie of the Year season for the Mavs. He looks to be one of the future stars of the league. I think the Rockets take this series but the Mavs and Rocha put up a good fight.
Predictions: Rockets in 7
(4) Denver Nuggets vs. (5) Utah Jazz
CC vs Harold. Let's do this damn thing. Speaking of old veteran star power the Nuggets are loaded with them. Victor Wembanyama, Don Barksdale, and Bob Cousy who is coming off ANOTHER MVP season. Let's not forget one of the best scorers of all-time Terrell Thompson and more unknown Red Owens. Nice and solid western conference team that won 48 games. Harold's Jazz on the other hand are one of the better defensive squads in the league. Top 3 to be exact! They have some big boys up front that love to board. Big boards. Big lads. 4-time BBS Champion Noble Herrero is also on this squad. You gotta love the intensity, wisdom and playoff leadership that Noble will bring come crunch time. Unfortunately for Habes, he never really got an ELITE point guard. I think point guard play is going to be HUGE in this series especially with Bob Cousy on the other side. I think the Nuggets take this one but it will be a battle.
Predictions: Nuggets in 6
