1.Wilt Chamberlain C 7'1'' 275 23 A- C D A- A A
Elite. Elite inside, jumpshot, quickness, steals, blocks, offensive rebounding, defensive rebounding and strength.
Obviously Wilt goes #1. I worry that the stip that will make it hard to enjoy having him, but anyone who says they'd trade him is bluffing.
2. Rudy LaRusso PF 6'7'' 220 22 B- C C B- B- A
Very good strength. Good inside scorer, jumpshot and handles. Solid rebounder. Some stocks.
I don't think he's the second best player in the draft, but I'll take the well-rounded big #2. Camp blocks, inside scoring, and then wait to see if the third AC should go to jump shot or d-rebs.
3. Bailey Howell PF 6'7'' 210 22 B+ C+ C- C B A
Very good inside scorer with good handles, jumpshot and strength. Good rebounder. Not a very good defender.
Looks like Z-Bo. You really need to have his midrange comfortably above 85 for him to be a star, but everyone else in this range is flawed too. IDK. If Boozer had good rebounding or stocks I'd have him easily ahead of Howell.
4. Bob Boozer PF 6'8'' 215 22 B C D+ B C+ A
Good inside scorer, jumpshot, handles, post defense and strength. Some stocks. Could use some help with rebounding.
Decent prospect. Needs a full letter grade or more of rebounding improvement and for the stocks to come in. Really hard to get excited about this guy at 4 if rebounding and stocks aren't strengths.
5. Dick Barnett SG 6'4'' 190 23 B- B+ C- C+ C A
Very good scorer, inside and out. Good handles and quickness. Solid steals.
He should be a 30+ ppg scorer, but he doesn't have elite defense or rebounding, so I'd have a hard time taking him higher. Maybe I'm underrating him.
6. Mike Mendenhall SG 6'4'' 180 22 B- C A A- B- B
Elite handles, quickness, passing and jumpshot. Very good strength, steals and blocks. Good rebounder.
Handling grade means so much here. I would probably take him #2 and move him to PG if his handles were 100. If they're 90 or lower, the -20 is gonna really eat into his value. The notes read like you're getting 3.5-4 stocks and 8 rpg from him at PG. That's extremely valuable, and if you camp the inside scoring you could probably get him to 20 ppg. But the PG move has pretty much never paid off, so this is a gamble.
7. Johnny Green PF 6'5'' 200 26 C D+ D+ B A- B
Good handles, quickness, blocks, steals and rebounding. Very good strength.
He's a steal at 7 if you're ready to contend, but he'll fall with good reason because the teams picking early in the lotto aren't looking for 26 year-olds in their prime and don't trust that they can flip him for youth. He'll be a stud for eight or so seasons if you can camp the blocks and rebounds.
8. Bob Ferry C 6'8'' 230 22 C+ C- C- B C+ A
Very good strength. Good post defender. Solid inside game, jumpshot and handles. Good stocks.
I think the notes make him sound better than he is. Solid inside and handles aren't real positives for a big. He won't shoot a high FG% or anything, so what are you getting? Good stocks and the hope that the rebounding develops. Not bad, but probably nothing special.
9. John Barnhill PG 6'1'' 180 21 C B- B- B+ C B
Very good handles and quickness. Solid jumpshot, 3 point shot and steals.
Great notes. Camp the three scoring categories and he's a good starting PG. Probably should go higher but he doesn't have a chance to really pop so it's hard to get that excited about him.
10. Paul Neumann PG 6'1'' 175 21 C B C+ C+ C A
Good jumpshot and quickness. Solid 3 point shot, steals and handles.
One of the few prospects in this class who can shoot threes, and he probably has nice potential, but really weak prospect. Mediocre inside scoring, not elite at anything, and solid handles = 3+ TPG to start. I have a couple of picks around here and won't be taking him. Don't think he can start.
11.Ed Kazakavich SF 6'5'' 195 22 B- C+ C B+ C+ B
Solid inside scorer, jumpshot and handles. Some stocks. Solid rebounder for a wing.
I like him, but would rather take him outside of the lotto. His C+ outside rating is close to C and he has no elite skills. Looks well-rounded with no flaws, but he'd need hidden potential to be a star.
12. Gene Guarilia SF 6'5'' 220 22 B- C- C- B- B- B
Solid inside and midrange. Solid handles and stocks. Solid rebounder.
Move him to PF and hope the blocks come in? Not many others in the mix for this pick, and Gene would look solid if these were notes for PF.
13. Willie Merriweather SF 6'5'' 190 21 B- B- C B C C
Good jumpshot, handles and stocks. Decent volume. Poor perimter and post defender.
Deonte Burton type? Camp his scoring and he can probably start at SG. Solid prospect.
14. Harry Kirchner C 6'10'' 240 22 C+ C- C- B- B C
Solid inside, jumpshot, handles and rebounding. Limited stocks.
You could camp the rebounding and blocks and use him as a third big I guess.
15. Cal Ramsey SF 6'4'' 200 22 C+ B- C C C A
Solid shooter from midrange and 3. Solid handles and steals. Not much volume.
No volume, no elite skills, nothing to love, but he has potential and a reasonable starting point.
