Heyyyyyyyyyyyo,
I’m as late as a pregnant woman but I will never forget you loveable larrikins and in this final edition of Powerpolls for Season 2002 we will be considering the thoughts of GM’s in retrospect to truly highlight the stupidity of us all.
In this edition we collected the thoughts of 7 wheelers & dealers around the league and Jahallstar
Our collective thoughts below!
1. Sacramento Kings (77 votes, 5 First Place Votes)
Playoff Result: Lost in Champonship
Sargo: best team easily
Ahsan: The only team close to the Cavs in terms of this season performance, I don't think this is debatable
2. Cleveland Cavaliers (75 votes, 3 FPV)
Playoff Result: Lost in 2nd Round
Sargo: second best easily
Ahsan: Will go into postseason with the #1 record so I don't think this is debatable
Galo: ‘most dominant team in the league right now’
Brian ‘best record but losing more than they use too’
3. LA Clippers (60 votes)
Playoff Result: Lost in 2nd Round
Sargo: they have duncna
Ahsan: Not really sold on them after their deadline moves but hard to count out a team which has Duncan. BoJax/Fin/LJ/Rice are all damn good players, just feel like their team defense is not good enough for the title. But we'll see, they're in the mix for sure.’
4. Boston Celtics (55 votes)
Playoff Result: Lost in 2nd Round
Last Ranking: 7
Galo: They are a complete team but could use some more rebounding and defense
Ahsan: Feel like they lack rebounding but Answer/Bibby gives them so much offensive firepower. Their defense is rock solid too with a frontline boasting Sheed/Campbell/Battier/Brown. Just a solid team top to bottom.
5. New York Knicks (46 votes)
Playoff Result: Champions!
Last Ranking: 3
Galo: Any team with the GOAT on their team has a punchers chance.
Brian : Trading their way into the postseason
6. Memphis Grizzlies (33 votes)
Playoff Result: Lost in 1st Round
Last Ranking: 8
Ahsan: People mock his high turnover bigs but they're middle of the pack in team turnovers due to a rock solid point guard in Andre Miller (terrific addition by him). They got so many guys who can just SCORE. Grant/Z both putting up over 21 PPG (with Grant over 25). Then you add in Dice, Juwan, Joe and Bonzi into the mix. Erbes knows what he wants, goes out and gets it to suit his system. He may not have the big names but he has a great overall team
Galo: They've figured out something (turnovers?) in the last couple sims and look hot right now
Sargo: ugly roster but ok
7. Indiana Pacers (29 votes)
Playoff Result: Lost in Conference Finals
Last Ranking: 9
Ahsan: VC/Maggettee are great pure scorers, Eddie Griffin is a terrific overall big. Pryzbilla looking nice and love their PG duo of El-Amin/Milos. They could make some noise in the postseason
Sargo: put some respect on my name
8. Dallas Mavericks (26 votes)
Playoff Result: Lost in 2nd Round
Brian: got the inside now
Jahallstar Air raid Mavs
Ahsan: Feel like they should be higher. They made A LOT of moves and it looks to be paying off. Great defensive/rebounding bigs with Jahadi/Dale/Kirilenko/Bradley. Those wings are SNIPERS with Allen/Ginobili and Sarunas looks like a rock solid point guard. Last season, they went to finals as a 7th seed. Would not be shocked to see that happen again. They're damn good.
9. Denver Nuggets (25 votes)
Playoff Result: Lost in 1st round
Ahsan: Houston/Pierce/Brand look like a nice 1-2-3 punch. Terrific overall rebounding team. They don't have much else however.
Galo: This is a good team but not a ton of depth in case of injury
10. LA Lakers (9 votes)
Playoff Result: Lost in Conference Finals
No one said anything about the Lakers…
Others Receiving Votes:
Miami Heat (4 votes)
San Antonio Spurs (2)
The following teams have received an RC for voting in all 3 Power Polls:
76ers, Rockets, Wizards, Pistons, Celtics Lakers, Pacers
