Early in his career, the front office was quite bad. They were able to land TMac but not get anything around them (our PFs were Juwan Howard, Mo Taylor and Scott Padgett - none of them could play defense, our starting PG was either Bob Sura or Mike James, Ryan Bowen was playing a key role). It wasn't until the mid-late 2000s when they started adding players like Battier, Scola, etc. But at that point either Yao was out during the postseason or McGrady was out during the postseason. In 2009 was when when Yao/McGrady had the best team around them (Scola, Artest, Battier, Brooks, Lowry, Mutumbo, Wafer). TMac ended up getting surgery and shutting his season down during the first half of the season, lost Mutumbo in the first round, still advanced (Yao was dominant in that series). Then in the second round, Yao went OFF on game 1 and got hurt early on in game 3 (funny enough, that Rockets team did end up taking the eventual champion Lakers to 7 somehow). |

TMac and Yao were too injury prone let's not forget their awesome cast of chuck hayes, scott padgett, bob sura, david wesley, ryan bowen, etc etc LMAO 2 top 20 players. Dwight dragged a bunch of role players to the NBA finals. I'm not trying to hear that man. Yao was suppose to be the next dominate center and he underachieved. yao got injured in the playoffs the year dwight made it to the finals and lost to the Lakers in 5, the Rockets went 7 games and that was without TMac too! |

Isiah Thomas was a decent drafter.
Nabbed Ariza in the 2nd. I just don’t trust him to trade. Worst pick was Balkman probably. I remember being so mad we passed on Marcus Williams
