One thing I will say.
Marty had an entire off season, so thats probably why he didn't get a freebie.
Marty has a team salary of 55 Million, he didn't do enough in the offseason to make his team competitive.
He also started Hal at SG for a big portion of the season.

A GM coming in with nothing on his roster but WITH his own picks would not get a freebie. So, a GM with enough trade value / capital on his roster to reacquire his own picks should also not get a freebie. Habes got a freebie with all of his picks and Habes is elite... |

Habes was always going to tank with that roster… that doesnt matter, not about winning or losing, he was hired after FA (and TC). He didnt get to setup the team for the season |
