Welcome to this round table! We were lucky enough to sit down with DeeperThanSims greeme and Nanz and Brophdog88 ! (will edit him in)
1. Last season the east was an absolute blood bath! Are you surprised all 3 teams made it when we had someone miss playoffs but reset with 48 wins?
Nanz - Yeah I was kind of surprised to be honest. Even teams like the pistons Magic and 6ers all crushed it! But def very happy all made it of course! Nice to see GMs crush it too like Play and Kobe.
DeeperThanSims - I'm not surprised. These aren't CY fodder GMs. I was only worried about the Bucks because they were slow to make deals, but the Bob Dandridge trade and Mel Davis averaging 4bpg saved them.
greeme - I think everybody should thank me, or more exactly to thank habes for getting me to trade everybody. That opened up another playoff spot. Still can't believe I moved bob so cheap.
Brophdog88 - I was a bit surprised at Andy, but Leroy is a really good big, and he got Dandridge fairly cheap. The rest were pretty clear with the talent they had.
2. The Grizz went from 1st pick to title. How impressive! What are your thoughts on patients with the #1 pick vs doing what Skillz did and moving all things for other assets and hoping it clicks (It Did)
Nanz - I think it fits Skillz perfectly! The man loves to trade to makes sense that a guy like him can go from last to first. Its def tough because you can’t really miss on any moves to make it all work but if anyone can do it, I’m not surprised it was Skillz.
DeeperThanSims - It's Skillz MO to turn over the team until he finds something that works so we knew that #1 pick was as good as gone. I think any player/asset is tradeable. Moses looked like he'd come in at GOAT level so I understand the deal being panned at the time, but turns out Moses came in as a solid big. Personally I thought that Heat team was all-time good, so I was surprised by the result. Grizz were definitely good though, they ran through the West.
greeme - usually it is better to be patient and let your players improve. That way you have a much longer window to compete. The quick fix sometimes is tantalizing but then you end up with a 1-2 yr window instead of a 4-6 yr window

Brophdog88 - Maybe we have inflated the value of #1 picks now to the point that they pull more than they are worth themselves. Obviously Skillz did well, the Portland pick got Jo Jo then he did about 30 other deals (those Celtics picks were real good and helped). Butch was a great addition, then Don Nelson to give him better offense. His D matched up well with a Heat team with a ehh offense.
3. Going to make you do a little work here. Who will be the best player drafted 14-29!
Nanz - I’ll go with Joe Bryant because I was looking at him in case I fell in the draft. Loved his notes and at the 3 I think he’ll be a stud. Maybe that’s just me hoping but still
DeeperThanSims - I didn't pay close enough attention to this draft, but Bob Gross sticks out to me. He had really good notes so unless I missed a question, I have no idea why he would drop to 20. People were drafting worse wings before him. I was also trying to grab a late pick to draft Abdul Jeelani. I don't think he should have dropped all the way #6 in the 2nd. Nice pick.
greeme - #29 Charles Russell. Probably not but it would be fun if he did. He had great offensive notes. It will probably be dunleavy

Brophdog88 - I have this weird feeling that Drollinger is going to be a steal because he was there when Pete Maravich died,
4. All the talk was around 18 year old Dawkins but the other 18 year old slipped to pick 26! Bill Willoughby SF 6'8'' 205 18 C+ C+ C- C+ C+ A -Mediocre inside, jumpshot, blocks and rebounding. Does this kid have a chance?
Nanz - LOL these picks scare me. I feel like there is always a player like this in the drafts and they never pan out? I’ll go with no because I can’t remember any of them working out.
DeeperThanSims - First, I really hope Dawkins is good here. His ratings are interesting. Regarding Willoughby, normally these C+ across the board players never pan out but *I think* Broph said 18 year olds can keep their potential for multiple seasons in a row. If that happens, I suppose Willoughby can be good... I'm going to say nah though.
greeme - one of the 3 hs players drafted in the old days, along with moand Dawkins.a chance? Of course. Probably has 100 pot. Total risk/reward pick. Certainly worth a shot at 26.

Brophdog88 - He does, but it just takes FBB jumping him to 100 potential right away in TC (or maintaining if he has it). If he doesn’t gain potential early, he probably sucks.
5. Who is your favorite rookie deal guy in the league rn?
Nanz - Gotta go with my main man Gervin babay!!!! 30 and 8 with 2 steals and a block at the 2… guy can ball. No question about it!
DeeperThanSims - Larry Kenon! There was a lot of question surrounding that pick during his draft but he looks like a future star. Kinda sad that I let him go.
greeme - Moses Malone. Gonna be a top big within 2 years.

Brophdog88 - Bobby Jones, just really enjoy that he has made the move to PF work pretty well. Not necessarily the best Rookie deal player, but a lot of fun wth the steals and blocks, and can slide to the SF in certain systems.
6. Who is your favorite non rookie deal player in the league rn?
Nanz - I mean we are talking favorites so of course I’ll go with my boys. Just traded back for him so Rudy T! I think he still has some potential left from the reset to 100 so it just exciting to see where he can get to.
DeeperThanSims - McCoy McLemore easily. I think I kept him the longest out of any player I've had this version. He helped me break the curse with all of those damn injuries year after year. Can't believe I traded him again... but he's 33 and I wanted to get something for him before it was too late.
greeme - Brisket I think. Probably would get twice as much in the open market.

Brophdog88 - I mean its Dr. J right, A A scoring, stocks, just a lot of fun, not scoring 39 ppg so somewhat balanced for now.
7. Who is the most underrated player in the league?
Nanz - Meh I don’t really know. Probably big herm from my friend Dons team? Guy is scoring 35 a game with no TOs… pretty damn nasty if you ask me!
DeeperThanSims - Pete Maravich, he's a sharpshooter with elite handles and steals and he rebounds good enough. Clifford Ray doesn't get mentioned enough. I guess I'll throw in Don Nelson too? Don't think the Grizz get a title without him, they were lacking a true #1 scorer before that.
greeme - Don buse. Big fan. Think he will be an elite pg in 2-3 yrs.

Brophdog88 - Pre playoffs, Butch Beard, remember Jah said he would be better without a three point shot.
Post Playoffs though, Blondet. Flexibility to play the 3 or 4, rebounds above his ratings, blocks, steals, low turnovers, and provides solid points, efficient for a PF in FBB. Signed cheap too

8. Who is the most over rated player in the league?
Nanz - Dang this is tough because I don’t really like to say a player is overrated… I guess technically I’ll go with Connie because he was just dealt for the number 1 pick LOL
DeeperThanSims - I feel like everyone shits on everyone's players so is anyone actually rated here? Maybe Moses Malone if you thought he'd come in as Red Rocha or Willis Reed, but maybe that was just me. Bob Love and Billy Cunningham were on a GOAT team but came up short, that's no good.
greeme - Whoever skillz is hyping at any given moment

Brophdog88 - *goes to skillz team* Guess I cant really do that for this one. I guess its Walt Frazier in hindsight ehh. He really was meh last year for the Hawks, like, offense was blegh. Rebounds were great, takes care of the ball, but really isn’t a pure stud carry a team style anymore.
9. Will Stool get CYd
Nanz - In the west? Nah I don’t think so. He has enough piece probably…?
DeeperThanSims - He's good to go after getting Connie Hawkins and Freddie Lewis. He'll probably end up having to rebuild again very soon though.
greeme - No, the west is horrible and he has a few solid players. He needs to make some moves but he should make it easily.

Brophdog88 - Ehh the west is so weak, Connie is great, no chance I would say. Like, yeah he paid way too much for Connie in hindsight, but Connie is amazing, provides elite D and rebounds and is a great offensive player. Getting up there in age and contract is expensive, but for one year doesn’t really matter. Bobby Jones provides stocks, Walton is probably fine for a third big if he doesn’t pan since he has tucker. Scoring SG’s aren’t that hard to find and one of those and a meh PG is fine.
