the Lasagna Kid's: Knights of the Round Table version 57
Welcome one and all to the rekindling of the Knights of the Round Table where we talk about life, love and of course BBS2020. We’ll start off with some BBS and then get into some great subjects like grillin and great spots to have a cold one and chill. I looked back on one of my early round tables as Spence said one of them was good, and was, yeah lets do one that doesn't have the canned questions we always see. I also was wtf is 'spences simp account' and remembered it was Erbes lol

We only have one team in CY this season so let’s see what people think about the GSW. Pretty sure they are gonna reset with the team they have, but is there any advice you can give Stoool that he might have missed?
Nanz : I mean I think everywhere said this but don’t panic be patient and make sure you stock up on fillers. Make sure your cap is right around 78M because thre is nothing worse than being a CY with no contracts to trade LOL
DeeperThanSims It seems like Stool will have a really good lineup so I'm not sure he needs advice at this point. He'll make the CY. I just hope he doesn't trade a top lottery pick on Day 80 of the season for old players again. I'd think a lot of the younger, elite guys would have been available for Alex English.
Orlando Magic Johnson - His team looks good. He should be in great shape especially in the weak west. I don't think he will have any problem making his CY this year. I will say though if you get in a big hole or something early better make trades quickly and don't wait to turn it around.
Erbes Yeah looks like a pretty easy reset now that they signed Dwight Smith in FA Day 1. I actually don't mind the job Stool has done with this CY. He didn't deal his young guys (Walton, Jones, Charles) and I think he managed to hold on to his 2060 pick? I mean he could do a two-year mini compete and then tank his balls off for real all while holding on to some younger talent. Kinda lucky with the West being what it is, but not bad!
In your downtime, what are some of the things you do to relax? Do you get to spend much time on your hobbies outside of BBS? Do you have a hobby that isn't mainstream?
Nanz : ummm I guess golf but I haven’t been able to get out there in a few months. Golf is anything but relaxing and I usually come out much more angry than I did going into it but I love it… other hobbies… ummmmm work? LOL not much else over here.
DeeperThanSims Watch shows with my wife, we just finished Last of Us. Listening to music. I try to catch the Celtics/NBA games as much as I can. I'd say BBS is my non-mainstream hobby.
Orlando Magic Johnson - I love working out. I play sports. I like watching movies/shows. I like to be active when I can. Most of the time you can find me working out if I'm not working.
Erbes I play quite a bit of Destiny 2. Not sure it helps me unwind, but it is fun! I've recently been hitting the gym quite a bit. Try to go 5-6 times a week when I can. I think I'm a pretty ho hum white boy. Love me some concerts (metal), good food (pizza), and travel (doing a cabin weekend in WV next month that I'm looking forward to!).

Do you grill at all, and if so charcoal, propane or pellets? If so what is your go to thing to grill, and what secrets can you share as to why yours is amazing?
Nanz : propane and love to grill. First thing I bought for my cabin and I used it quite a bit last year. Only think I grill right now is steak but I need to get better at doing other foods and also simpler things like hot dogs burgers etc. Would love to get to Salmon at some point. Def need one for the new place but my friend habes should just got one too. Secrets? Not really but I like to marinate the meat the night before like my dad showed me years ago and it gives that meat some nice flavorssssss.
DeeperThanSims I don't grill, I'm apartment living. Nothing beats that charcoal grill taste but I'm not going to complain about someone grilling with propane.
Orlando Magic Johnson - I can and have grilled numerous times of the years but I don't own a grill right now or have space for one. If I did it would be propane most likely. I like that the best and it's easy to maintain and use. It is all about the sauce fellas.
Erbes I'm very fortunate that my apartment has some really nice propane grilles. Love to do all the meats - burgers, dogs, sausage, steak, salmon. I'm not grillmaster, but I get the job done. Recently invested in a meat thermometer. Truly a game changer. No more cutting into the meat. Really helps with the presentation lmaoooo.
Last night when I logged on with insomnia Game pointed out Break was close to HC with just 7 players. What advice can you give him for rounding out his team?
Nanz : He should get his team back and tank… he should get his own team going. As it stands I think its pretty obvious but I think he’s gotta trade one of his big 3 for smaller contracts and more depth. DVA’s contract is rough so that might be tough but he’s probably the main option
DeeperThanSims Find a team with cap to dump Warren Davis on, then sign a bunch of rookies is probably easiest. Side bar on DVA deal, we have to stop giving these ridiculous 2nd max contracts out. Cantstandya found what's going to be my vet max offer from now on. His McCoy deal of 20M starting for 4 years with 10% increases seems good to me. He was a great contribution to the league for that alone.
Orlando Magic Johnson - Just start making some trades. Make this team your own. Start wheeling and dealing! Let's go baby!
Erbes I'm not sure Break would listen to any advice, let alone from me, but it's time to tear it down. It's almost a natural life cycle that you have to be cognizant of. You can compete with 3ish players on their first max, but once they get old and get that 2nd max? Ya gotta move on. Could he turn Bellamy and Calvin into multiple pieces and still compete? Yeah for sure, especially in a weak West. But I haven't seen a single trade block or post in another block to try and do that. The longer ya wait the more set in stone every other team becomes and then you're SOL.
Where is a place you love to visit to just relax and maybe have a few drinks?
Nanz : Oregon LOL I like to go up and chill there for a couple weeks at a time to have a good relaxing time. Here is Cali I don’t’ really have a place but I guess my nearest golf course….
DeeperThanSims My home! Other friends homes? I don't have a particular location to relax and have drinks at.
Orlando Magic Johnson - I love going to a few spots in Williamsburg, Brooklyn with the boys. I love dive bars. Any casual place with some games to play and the games on would be ideal for me. I love just going to a bar and hanging out lol.
Erbes I'm a big garden guy. Give me a bench in a garden and I'll soak in the sun for hours. My parents' backyard is perfect for that. Wrote quite a few BBS articles from that garden patio in my first stint as a GM. Around here in DC I'm pretty happy on just about any rooftop with an ice cold Miller Lite in my hand.
Lasagna and tears of failure I'm with Orlando Magic Johnson for a chill bar with the game on. Watched the end of the UConn vs I forget a week ago sat in DC at the Tonic. great vibe there, but def not a dive bar.
What is your current plan for your team? When / If you are rebuilding do you plan on a 2 year and compete in the 3rd, or go all in and do the full 4?
Nanz : This is going to be our second year but I don’t think I’ll be able to go full out tank. Probably just play it safe, keep some cap and see how these young guys can play. Gerv is already nasty and we love Gray and Raymond so we’ll see. We had a chance to bring Rudy home so we had to do it but of course he’ll win some games for us. Probably try to get a late lotto pick and then be forced to win in year 3.
DeeperThanSims Goal is to win a title. We were competitive in the playoffs last year upsetting 2 higher seeds and going 2-2 with the Heat before losing. Another TC under Truck and Moses will hopefully get me there. I essentially swapped McCoy for Pete Maravich which is a downgrade on it's face, but Pete is 5 years younger and from what I saw from box scores, he's a 30+ PPG guy.
Erbes Typically I want to compete in year 3. If you are proactive during rebuilds, you can get enough assets to put a good team together even if you had bad luck with draft positioning. It's also just safer. Rex, for example, was CY'd because his key guys missed too many games to injury. I don't want to deal with that.
Orlando Magic Johnson - Keep competing until I can't anymore. I want to win and make the playoffs this time...I need another offensive player. Hard to find the right trade and keep the core but I'm looking!
Tank our balls offfff forrrr sureeeee. We probably need all 4 years. Nobody wants my players though! Might have to give them away for free. Such is life. Last time I tanked I was gifted with Dwight Howard and Deron Williams. I still have nightmares. Thanks Spence!!!
Our buddy Mike got a pizza oven for his wedding, alas it sounds like it was never broken in. Do you have a gift like that sitting in the garage / attic that you one day hope to use?
Nanz : I also have a toaster over type of thing in CT with my parents from our wedding LOL I need to get them to send it to me but at this point it might be worth just buying a new one….
DeeperThanSims Funny, we got an instant pot for our wedding that is still in the box. I don't know when we'll break that out
Orlando Magic Johnson - Oh damn...sounds hot as fuck...Nothing of that nature really. I have a golf net in storage. I would love to break that out if I ever have a bigger place. Hit golf balls in the basement. Get a simulator. Gym right there. All of that would be ideal.
Erbes I gave my sister a pizza oven for her wedding! Popular gift it sounds like. I was given an air fryer like two years ago. Before they got kinda big. Literally carted it two different apartments since it was gifted to me. Finally broke it open within the past couple of months. I use 3-4 times a week now. It is so easyyyyy to use. Highly recommend.

Orlando Magic Johnson - Any vacations coming up?
Lasagna and tears of failure Going to a few concerts out of town and two of them are in Baltimore (one I should see JAH before one as we're going to the Springsteen show the same night). While up in the area for one of them hoping to do some more sightseeing in DC and either get some ice cream or a beer with habes. Forgot erbes was up there too, maybe can get him to also come out and play.
Also going to Denver to see a show at Red Rocks.
Erbes Don't you think it would be better for yourself, and for the league, if you were the bigger man when it came to breakthewalls?
