1 Portland Trail Blazers - Robert Parish
The Blazers could have gone in a few directions with the first pick. Parish, Dantley and King were all solid choices for #1. Manas and the Blazers decided to snatch up the big man. Can't go wrong with that. Parish should be a 20/12/2 big on the low end.
2 Philadelphia 76ers - Bernard King
Erbes and the 76ers have a legit building block in Bernard King. I probably would have taken him 1st. He should be a 30PPG and a solid board man for the wing position. Fun player.
3 NY Knicks (from New Jersey Nets) - Adrian Dantley
The last of the big 3 imo. Dantley is very similar to King. With a +3 jump shot, he sits at B+ B scoring, which is the same as King. Another future 30PPG guy hopefully.
4 NY Knicks (from Washington Wizards) - Dennis Johnson
Dennis Johnson PG 6'4'' 185 22 B C B- A- C+ A
Elite handling and quickness. Good inside scoring and jumpshot. Solid blocks and steals.I loved DJ so much that I had to trade Iceman to get him. Blocks and steals from a PG, great rebounding and elite handling? Sure, he might not shoot the 3 ball, but he does everything else. Future star.
5 San Antonio Spurs - Marques Johnson
Draft falls off after this pick. Johnson is borderline B in nearly everything. He will be a damn stud here. Great and obvious pick imo by ashes.
6 Indiana Pacers - Norm Nixon
Looks like a "poor mans" DJ. He and DJ are extremely similar. I probably would have gone with Eddie Johnson, but a solid pick here.
7 Los Angeles Clippers (from Timberwolves) - John Lucas
Another PG. The run on PGs stops here (for a few picks). Lucas looks OK, but he's lower on the C+ scoring side. GAME needs to bank on this man having good potential.
8 Phoenix Suns - Eddie L. Johnson
What a great player. Borderline B B. Does it all. I know the pick was auto'd, but you have to think John was going to make Eddie the pick anyways. Was obvious IMO.
9 Los Angeles Clippers - Mark Landsberger
Elite post defense scares me. Hope he can block a little for GAME. Otherwise, he looks like a decent big man.
10 New Orleans Hornets - Rickey Green
Would not shock me to see Green be the best PG in this draft in a few seasons. I think he's a former Warrior too. Looks like an awesome player who should do 25PPG and rebounds solid enough for the PG position.
11 Utah Jazz - Gerald Henderson
Another PG. Borderline C+ C+ scoring though. I'm sure he will end up solid here, but there were better players on the board.
12 NJ Nets (from New York Knicks) - Terry Tyler
Awesome pick by greeme. He is planning on moving him to PF, which is smart. Camp those rebounds 100% before TC though! Damn, these notes are sexy.
13 Boston Celtics - Robert Reid
Reid looks the part. Not sure he will get stocks, but it's a solid pick here by Ahsan. Riley's brother is in good hands.
14 Dallas Mavericks - Cedric Maxwell
Another awesome pick. I didn't do grades because I love nearly every player in this draft and would have handed out 'A's' like candy. Maxwell is an interesting player and might be a candidate to move to PF.
15 Chicago Bulls - Ben Poquette
Play and the Bulls are loaded with bigmen. At worst, Ben is a solid 3rd big. If he has some potential, he could be the next A- A- A- big man.
16 Minnesota Timberwolves (from Kings) - James Edwards
Another stud big who needs rebounding work. It seems like a common theme here, but at least with these guys, you know how to camp them. Pump this man up with board and strength camps.
17 Los Angeles Lakers - TR Dunn
Looks like a guy who will THRIVE in an balanced or inside offense. Elite steals? PHEWWWWW. Love that. Good pick by Nanz.
18 New York Knicks (from Nuggets) - Willie Hodge
The first player with no notes. During the Q&A, Spencer noted: Good blocks, handles, inside, jump shot and solid strength. With ratings like that under the hood, he looks well rounded. I just need to focus on camping those boards up and hope they jump in TC.
19 NY Knicks (from Milwaukee Bucks) - Lonnie Shelton
I'm banking on the hope that he can block 1+ a game. If so, I think we found a gem. IRL he blocked over 1 per game, so fingers crossed!
20 Detroit Pistons (from Rockets) - Earl Tatum
Anytime you get a wing with solid scoring on all 3 levels, he will be good here. Harold might need to invest into his handles a bit, but Mr. Tatum looks like a good player. Probably can get him to B B+ before TC too.
