2060 FULL Post-Notes Mock Draft!
1st Round:
1) - Magic Johnson SF 6'9'' 215 19 A- C A- C A- A - It's a tough decision between Magic and Bird and honestly, one you really can't go wrong with. Feel like kobe would be able to build a dynasty around either. Magic will likely win a bunch of MVPs, average triple-doubles and be a nice foundational piece. Especially for this young Heat team which is loaded with talent and could use a great PG.
2) - Larry Bird PF 6'9'' 220 22 B+ B+ A- C B+ A - Bird would be an awesome pick for Orlando Magic Johnson . Honestly feel like if the Magic landed first overall, they'd still take Bird though the sound of Magic to Magic is great too. Regardless, he'll ben an elite double-double machine, the type of player you can use in a variety of ways (starting SF, Love/Loathe 6th Man role) and regardless average 30+ PPG 12+ RPG being an absolute monster.
3) - Purvis Short SF 6'7'' 210 21 B+ C+ C C+ C A - Honestly, this is the part of that draft that starts to get tricky. Purvis does have elite inside scoring to go along with a good jumpshot and quickness so should become a very nice scorer at the two assuming you can camp the outside. Feel like he is BPA.
4) - Cliff Robinson PF 6'9'' 220 18 B C+ C- C C+ A - Yeah he has C defense with mediocre stocks and poor threepoint BUT he is 18 years of age. Feel like sometimes, you just gotta gamble and hope he has enough potential to become a top-notch player in this league especially when picking this high.
5) - Phil Hubbard SF 6'8'' 215 22 B C C- A- C+ B - I actually like Hubbard a ton, probably more than most. Good stocks/handles, C+ rebounding which is all great for a wing. Not much of a threepoint shooter but good inside scoring and jumpshot should make him a nice enough scorer. Feel like this would be a nice pick for Braz here.
6) - Mychal Thompson C 6'10'' 226 23 B C- C- B B B - Father of Klay. The elite strength is good, no massive holes in his game right now. Needs camping as I'm not sure about his upside. To be honest, he could go higher than this, possibly even 3rd or 4th overall. But regardless, would be a nice pickup for Royal .
7) from (Pick only conveys outside of Top 5 range) - Charles Jones C 6'9'' 215 21 B- D+ D+ A- C+ B - Feel like this is the type of pick that Play would love. Good blocks/strength, solid inside scoring. The rebounding needs camps ASAP.
8) from - Lawrence Boston PF 6'8'' 225 22 B+ C D+ C B+ B - Boston in Sacramento for the ATL kid chipper . Weird. The elite inside and jumpshot to go along with B+ rebounding can potentially make him a sick scoring SF. Doesn't really excel elsewhere, could go higher than this spot. Honestly, it is difficult to project these types of players but would be a nice pickup here.
9) from (Pick only conveys outside of Top 5 range) - Allen Leavell PG 6'1'' 170 21 B- C+ C+ B- C B - The first PG off the board comes at 9th in this mock. Leavell is "solid" in a lot of key areas so with some camps, could be a good enough starter. I like the C rebounding, like the inside scoring. Could be cool I guess.
10) - Jerome Whitehead C 6'10'' 220 22 C+ C D B- B- A - This is one of those take an A pot guy and hope he becomes something. Had decent notes, nothing great. Feel like it is good value at 10th Overall.
11) - Ron Brewer SG 6'4'' 180 23 C B- C A- C B - Elite jumpshot/handles/quickness, good steals and C rebounding at SG. What's not to like about Ron? Might not be a high upside guy but doesn't need much upside to become a serviceable or good player. Honestly, feel like he could go higher but this draft has a lot of these interesting question mark guys.
12) - Mike Evans PG 6'1'' 170 23 C B B B C B - The second PG off the board. Something about Mike Evans screams jahallstar type of player to me, not sure what it is.
13) - Jackie Robinson SF 6'6'' 210 23 C+ B+ C- B- C- C - Sometimes the original michael just needs to swing for the fences at the end of the lotto. The notes on him were decent. It's name power that gets him slotted into my lottery.
14) - Calvin Garrett SF 6'7'' 190 22 B- B- C- B+ C+ B
