The Lasagna Childs top 20 draft picks in review
(just call me Julia)
Here comes the worst draft review ever. It’s biased because I hate that the Heat got Bird, which means I have to give everyone shitty grades, and plus it causes people to reply.
1) Orlando Magic - Magic Johnson
NO DUH…
A
2) Miami Heat - Larry Bird
Again… duh… though Kobe had to be autoed so he falls to a
B+
3) Denver Nuggets - Mychal Thompson
Elite strength. Good inside scoring and handles. Solid jumpshot, steals, blocks and rebounds. Solid post defense.
Easy to see why Royal made Mychal their pick, great notes, but is he destined for anything beyond a BU 4/5?
B+
4) Phoenix Suns - Jerome Whitehead
Good inside scoring, jumpshot, post defense and strength. Mediocre blocks and steals. Solid defensive rebounding. Good Handles.
Is Jerome gonna play the 3? This is a boom of bust player that TC is gonna make or break. He could become a stud, or another forgotten bust.
A-
5) Toronto Raptors - Cliff Robinson
Good inside scoring, jumpshot, handling and quickness. Mediocre blocks and steals. Poor 3-Point Shooting. Very poor Perimeter D. Solid Post D.
Cliff might be able to score, but he’s a liability on D and cant board. At the 3 he’ll be even worse on D and will put up 3’s for no reason. Only thing that will save him is his POT. I get it, during the rebuild better to take a chance on a player that might become good with POT over one that might be able to play now.
B+
6) Sacramento Kings - Purvis Short
Elite inside scoring. Good jumpshot and quickness. Solid handles, steals and strength. Poor Blocks. Mediocre 3-pointers. Poor perimeter D.
So many liked this pick, I didn’t. Cant play D, no boards and doesn’t have much upside besides scoring. Maybe that’s enough. Had him more in the 10-12 range, but I’m probably wrong as I suck at drafting. He is A pot though so maybe that saves him?
C-
7) Chicago Bulls (from Jazz) - Phil Hubbard
Good inside scoring, jumpshot, handles, blocks, and steals. Good quickness. Solid strength.
Best of the win now shooters, and can play D! With this draft, a steal at 7.
A-
8) Toronto Raptors (from Timberwolves) - Charles Jones
Good blocks, post defense and strength. Solid inside scoring. Mediocre rebounding. Mediocre Jumper. Mediocre Handles. Mediocre Jump Shot.
So much to love, so much to hate. Guy needs to be camped ASAP before TC, and maybe he explodes? Great pick though, just the draft quality will bring the grades down.
B
9) Seattle Super Sonics - Calvin Garrett
Good jumpshot, handles and quickness. Solid post defense. Mediocre blocks and steals. Solid Inside, mediocre 3-point shot, solid jumping.
Camped right this guy might be an interesting player, though could become just another lle too.
C
10) Sacramento Kings (from Bucks) - Lawrence Boston
Elite inside scoring and jumpshot. Good rebounding. Mediocre Quickness. Mediocre Stocks. Mediocre post defense. Mediocre Blocks. Mediocre Steals. Good strength. Mediocre handles.
This guy was a steal at 10, as +25 done right will make him into a solid starting big. Best rebounder in the class and he fell this far. WOW
A+
11) Cleveland Cavaliers - Reggie King
Good jumpshot, quickness, rebounding and strength. Mediocre handles and stocks. Mediocre Inside. Mediocre post D. Poor Perimeter D.
Is Svedda gonna move him to PF? He cant play the 3, and his socks might be questionable for a big, but we’ve all seen “mediocre stock guys” become studs, so overall a solid pick.
B
12) New Orleans Hornets - Allen Leavell
Solid inside scoring, jumpshot, handles and steals. Solid quickness. Mediocre outside shooting.
First PG drafted, and… meh did JAH draft him to help tanking? Maybe he’s a good 3 point shooter?
F
13) Detroit Pistons (from New York Knicks) - Paul Mokeski
Elite strength and post defense. Good jumpshot and handles. Mediocre Blocks and Steals. Solid inside.
Habes, got a steal here. No way he should have still been on the board.
A
14) Golden State Warriors - Ron Brewer
Elite jumpshot, handles and quickness. Good steals and perimter defense. Mediocre inside. Mediocre 3-pointer.
An Auto so, was he BAP… maybe maybe not. When he shoots he’ll score, but will he shoot? If nothing else will be a gread BU 1 – 2
C+
15) Orlando Magic (from Grizzlies) - Jeff Cook
Good post defense and strength. Solid inside scoring, and jumpshot. Mediocre Steals, blocks, and handles. Mediocre defensive rebounding.
Might be good, might not be worth the rookie contract. Does not look to have a lot of upside.
C-
16) Los Angeles Clippers - Jackie Robinson
Good jumpshot and 3 point shot. Solid inside scoring. Mediocre stocks.
Drafted for his name hoping for hidden POT? At best a SG…
D
17) Dallas Mavericks - George L. Johnson
Good jumpshot, steals, post defense and strength. Solid inside scoring. Mediocre rebounding. Mediocre blocks.
A big that cant board. A common theme the last few drafts. A stretch pick for the MAVs since the last two drafts they have drafted basically the same player.
D
18) Dallas Mavericks (from Celtics) - Mike Evans
Good handles and quickness. Solid jumpshot and 3 point shot.
+25 to his offence and he might be another Calvin Murphy. 2nd PG taken in the draft, and while he has the chance of being pretty good, most likely will be pretty bad.
C+
19) Toronto Raptors (from 76ers) - Ron Carter
Good jumpshot, 3 point shot and handles. Mediocre inside scoring. Solid steals. Solid quickness.
Best 3 point shooter in the draft, but looks like both the 3’s and JS are low to have such a low outside rating. Needs +25 asap to be brought off life support.
B-
20) New York Knicks (from Wizards) - Terry Sykes
Solid jumpshot, handles and blocks. Mediocre 3 point shot and rebounding.
Ahhh… um… think they should have forfeited the pick versus drafting Sykes
D-
