GM Braz here. I am joined by chipper in his CY, Vet GM and fan favorite autumn harold and returning Vet GM Zeke !
We dove into 8 pressing questions as we embark into this new season coming out of a fun BBS Draft! Thanks for taking the time to read and vote.
autumn harold : I didn't have one, but let's go Donaldson, Laimbeer, Eaton, Mahorn, Kiki. No great two-way players in the class. I would've been fine with any of those guys going first. Laimbeer will be the best by a lot if the blocks come around, but I've been burned by so many mediocre stock guys that it's tough to go all in on him. Eaton and Donaldson will be great, but I think Mahorn has an edge on them if he can get to the 3 BPG range. Kiki has massive scoring potential but gotta dock him for not having the stocks or rebounding to go with it.
chipper : I had Donaldson, Eaton, Laimbeer, Cartwright, and Moncrief.
Zeke : Dont put much stock to this since I just saw these on its face, but Moncrief, Eaton, Laimbeer, Kiki, Donaldson. I like Moncrief base though he has the higher chance of busting from my top 4. Donaldson I like, but I prefer someone with higher potential on a top 5 pick, Eaton is elite with blocks. Just camp his rebounds and thats it.
autumn harold : I think he'll look awesome. Just comes down to his fg% and blocks. The rebounding and midrange will be elite. If the scoring is nice, you can live with mid blocks. But we see a lot of bigs with "good" inside scoring who turn out to be weak scorers, so need to see his offensive production before knowing what he is. No matter what, I think he has an extremely high floor and should be a very good starter.
chipper : I think Bill will be fine- a 15/12 line would be nice. Probably will outperform that.
Zeke : I mean, he's at least a 2nd big for a mid team. He's okay. Any of my top 5 could have a claim for the top pick. This was a draft where anything could happen, I mean you have two use one +8 on his blocking. If he can get to 2 bpg he'd be nice with the already good base of high Inside and Blocks.
autumn harold : Donaldson is my guy in this draft. I think he has the Artis Gilmore/Elmore Smith build. The rebounding will get to A- quickly. Blocks should be around 3 as a rookie. Probably needs +9 to his jump shot for that elite inside scoring to produce to an actually good offensive player, but he has great scoring potential if he gets the jumpshot camps. Love him.
chipper : I think Donaldson to the Magic. That dude is ready to go.
Zeke : Andrew Toney at 11 is my answer he could be nice, great base definitely slipped. Another is Rick Mahorn, but I really like someone who has higher potential always when im iffy about something just get the higher potential so yea him over Mahorn I guess.
autumn harold : DBW wins a lot of trades, often by a wide margin, and he signed Bingo.
chipper : DBW is one of the best GMs in FBB history for all the years I’ve known him. He did well in trades and made smart FA signings. Pretty good formula.
Zeke : Well, DBW had always been a top GM in any league he been in. It's no surprise, to be honest I haven't even look at his previous rosters but his current team having two of the best rebounder is a recipe for a good team, currently he has no PG though, so this might be the year the dynasty ends? Idk, i just came here two days ago.
autumn harold : I need someone to tell me because I just won 34 without my pick.
chipper : Not traded Cosic. I’ve already wasted a bunch of words on Cosic. But he took what was the one thing keeping his team somewhat afloat (rebounding) and nerfed it.
Zeke : Not get trolled into taking bad deals. Maybe sleep more? At this point this has been like his 6th team? So, if he doesn't do anything differently the first few times I doubt he does things differently on his next try. It is what it is at this point.
6. Chipper is up next what is his biggest need? (asked pre fa)
autumn harold : Bench and power forward. He needs to get Lawrence Boston of his DC. Theus should have a limited role too since he's been really bad so far. Right now it'd be a close call but I'd bet against them resetting.
chipper : I need another big. Would love to not have to start Lawrence Boston at PF.
Zeke : Well, point guard, he got that with Tiny Archibald, although Im not a fan of Tiny Archibald I think his rebounding is detrimental as there are a lot of similar PG with his skillset already. he got the big in Kermit. Which was a very great deal and seems like a match made in heaven for a CY Team. He needs another big though to get into CY, he still a few moves away.
7. Royals biggest need? (asked pre fa)
autumn harold : He's gonna need to flip Moncrief for two good starters or steal several starters in FA. He has tons of flexibility and picks and always figures it out so not really worried about him resetting.
chipper : Definitely a PG that doesn’t turn it over- because Boone’s gonna do enough of that at the 2.
Zeke : Well, looking at his team he hasnt made any changes yet. With the West being shitty last year, he could definitely make it even with minimal changes, Royal always tries his best at CY so not worried. He'll even trade good youths as long as he gets in so no worries here, just do his normal young for vets deal and he'll make it.
8. Kiki, Do you love me? What do you think about that pick and his outlook
autumn harold : Maybe an Issel type but at SG? Feel like he can get to A-/A scoring and C+ rebounding pretty quickly. Without stocks or great boards, he shouldn't be a small forward and probably can't be a franchise player, but I like him a lot as a top option SG.
chipper :I like Kiki- I think he’s going to be a very good player. Would like to see how he sims and how his rebounding will be before I pass judgement. Wish he had more in the way of stocks.
Zeke : Idk, he looks okay. Im not familiar with the file yet with these semi inflated file. But maybe something like David Thompson, I'm not sure if he could be a franchise player but he has a nice base and should be a decent first-second option for a team. But this file is full of scorers now so without that stocks not a franchise player but should be a multiple time all star. That low passing is great though so he should be good.
