1) Biggest surprise of the season? Biggest Trade? Biggest disappointment?
Galo-I came in very late in the season towards the deadline so not sure on the biggest surprise. Maybe stool winning it all? His team looked solid though so idk. Not sure on trades but seen that the Hawks have made some moves. Biggest disappointment is Denver as Royal should still be here as a GM!
Detroit- Biggest surprise is Warriors winning. Biggest trade I guess is the Gervin-Artis deal. Idk about the disappointment. Me.
Coooop- I want to say the Warriors were the biggest surprise. Are you fishing for compliment? Well… here it is! The biggest disappointment was this draft. Not sure about the biggest trade, for me it was the DJ to DET deal.
2) Thoughts on the draft class?
Galo-Obviously one of the worse we've seen. That said, I can't complain that I got McHale but usually you can pick off some valuable contributors in the latter stages of the 1st round but not this year.
Detroit- It seemed a lot worse than any class we’ve had in this version. Like even the role players were tanked. Felt like it was so bad that an explanation was due.
Coooop- It wasn’t good. It also wasn’t as bad as everyone said. I think we will find some decent players out of this. No stars, but solid players.
3) Who had the best draft? Any disappointments?
Galo-Bulls getting Griffith at No. 5 (I had him 3rd on my board). We'll see if anyone picked any steals but I like the Hodges pick for PHX and Ainge for Dallas. As far as disappointments, Ruland at #4 seemed like a reach to me but that's the protypical greeme safe pick and he'll be at worse an A-/A- backup big. At best, he's maybe a starter on a contender.
Detroit- I didn’t like Ruland at 4. I think it was based on how he played IRL, but he’s not very promising. Best draft goes to Nuggets for taking McHale. Other picks I liked were Griffith, Kelly T, Hodges, and Wes Mathews.
Coooop- Nuggets because they got McHale. Not a fan of the Ruthland pick at 4 for greeme considering the offers he had on the table.
4) Plan with your team?
Galo-We'll see after FA and TC but maybe take it slow or fast. Idk yet.
Detroit- Try to reset and then immediately tear down. I’m at risk of getting CY’d. Worst part is each of my starters has elite inside and I’m considering running an inside offense. Not good.
Coooop- Wanted to retool and now compete. We have Dantley and Dawkins locked up. Some solid young bigs in Clem, JBC, Edgar. Just added Pistol Pete. A PG is next on the hit list.
5) Who is winning it all next year? Dark horse?
Galo-Atlanta? Idk they seem to be the perennial contender these days. The East looked crazy competitive this year but didn't take the title so maybe someone from there. Dark horse - um let's go with Utah.
Detroit- Hawks to win. Dark horse I’ll say Lakers. They need bigs but have high end perimeter talent and assets to improve.
Coooop- I’ll give the homer pick and say the Knicks. A solid TC and if I can add a PG, we are cooking.
6) Will the CY teams make it? What do they need to do?
Galo-They should - both are FBB vets. It's the west and they know the holes they need to fill so should be easy.
Detroit- It’s insane that teams in the West can lose 42+ four straight years and not get CY’d. Yes, they’ll make it. Jazz look good and Sonics play in the West so won’t be hard to piece it together.
Coooop- Who is even in CY? Anyone?
7) Will Break get another chance as a GM? Should he?
Galo-We'll see how the WL looks like I guess. I don't have an issue with him but I can see why he rubs some folks the wrong way.
Detroit- Sure, why not. Nothing will change but let him GM. He’s active. I don’t really care about the rest.
Coooop- eventually he’ll be back but at what point do you just give up? Let it goooo
8) What happened with Royal??
Galo-Good question - why don't you ask him? He's busy with real world stuff but he'll help with the Nuggets when he can.
Detroit- Idk. He did his thing
Coooop- No idea. He had the pieces, picks to make it. Clearly he didn’t want to or care. Nuggets are set up very nicely.
9) Final thoughts on last season? How did your team do? disappointments? Encouragement?
Galo-Couldn't end quick enough. Obviously a rebuild year and glad we were able to dump all the contracts we had for rebuild stuff.
Detroit- No.
Coooop- Again, disappointment. Especially since we ended 9-1 after trading DJ and our pick
10) Give me a BBS hot take
Galo-Stool wins back to back chips!
Detroit- I know it’s convenient bc my situation is awful but I’ve come around on the idea that we should restart. Creation drafts are fun and a restart is such an activity boost. I don’t feel strongly about it though.
Coooop- Uhhhhhhh idk
