Fat Lever SF 6'3'' 170 21 B C+ B B B A
Notes: Can play PG. Elite quickness. Good jumpshot, steals and strength.
Player comp: Michael Ray Richardson
Fat man Lever is destined to be the next MRR. Handles might not develop like you would love at PG, but the rebounding is the key here. It took MRR 2-3 seasons to develop. One has to wonder if it’ll be similar for Fat. Probably the #1 pick.
Sleepy Floyd PG 6'3'' 170 21 B- C+ B- C+ C- A
Notes: Good inside scoring, handling and quickness. Solid jumpshot and steals.
Player comp: Butch Beard
Don’t sleep on Sleepy! He looks similar to Beard. Both have good inside games and can steal while taking care of the rock. Some team will get a steal in Sleepy given the depth of the lottery in this draft. Damn is a good draft.
Larry Nance PF 6'10'' 205 22 B C C B+ C+ A
Notes: Good inside scoring, jumpshot, handles, quickness, steals and post defense. Solid blocks and strength.
Player comp: Daryl Dawkins
Nance is a tough one, but I think Dawkins is a great comparison. Both are known leapers with good inside scoring. Both have a solid jumper. Dawkins has developed into an elite blocks guy, but Nance has the potential. Their weakness? Rebounds. Will be interesting to see how a GM attempts to camp and develop Nance. I’d go all in on those boards before TC, move his ass to C then pray.
Rolando Blackman SG 6'6'' 190 22 B B C- C+ C A
Notes: Good inside scoring, jumpshot and handles. Solid 3 point shot. Mediocre steals.
Player comp: Kiki Vandeweghe
Rolando Blackman, not to be confused with Renaldo Balkman. Blackman looks like a hell of a player and should be one of the leagues best scorers in his prime. Easily a top pick in this draft.
Tom Chambers PF 6'10'' 220 22 B B+ C- C+ C A
Notes: Good inside scoring, jumpshot, 3 point shot, handles and post defense.
Player comp: Marv Roberts
Struggled with this one. Chambers looks amazing. You can pick nearly any elite wing and compare to Tom. He’s a high B inside. Could easily be a A- A- scorer after camps and that first TC. Very realistic.
Buck Williams PF 6'8'' 215 21 B C- C- B B+ A
Notes: Elite strength. Good inside scoring, handles and steals. Solid rebounding.
Player comp: Poor mans Moses Malone
Big Buck Williams fan. Obviously, it’s doubtful he turns into Moses. But! If anyone would be Moses from this draft, it’s Buck. He has the ideal base for a big man and if a GM can camp him right away, wooooo!
Isiah Thomas PG 6'1'' 180 20 B C B+ B+ C A
Notes: Elite inside, handling and quickness. Good jumpshot and steals.
Player comp: Dennis Johnson with less blocks/boards and better handles.
That poor 3 point is hard to digest. He’ll never be an elite outside shooter (probably not). DJ was a C guy coming in and developed to a low B+ outside. DJ also has elite stocks and rebounds. I’d value IT a little less than DJ tbh. The elite handles are obviously great, but there’s flaws.
Mark Aguirre SF 6'6'' 232 22 B+ C+ C+ C+ C A
Notes: Elite inside scoring. Good jumpshot. Solid handling, quickness and strength.
Player comp: Leonard Gray with worse boards
Another comparison I struggled with. Aguirre is definitely a wing given his lack of stocks and rebounds, but has that elite inside scoring. It would not shock me to see his outside progress with camps and TCs to eventually see A-. He should thrive in a balanced offense… which seems to be a trend that might be forced on some given the players coming into the league.
Alton Lister C 7'0'' 240 23 C C- D B+ B B
Notes: Elite strength. Good post defense. Solid blocks, jumpshot and rebounding.
Player comp: Rich Mahorn
Here are Mahorns notes: Elite strength. Good handles and post defense. Solid blocks and steals. Looks pretty similar to me. I’m hopeful that Lister will develop his rebounding better than Mahorn did to this point. Really love Lister and a back end lotto team is going to be extremely happy.
Herb Williams C 6'10'' 242 23 C+ D+ C- B+ C+ B
Notes: Elite strength. Good handling. Solid blocks and inside scoring.
Player comp: Rich Mahorn lite
I hate to use the lazy player comparison here, but I’m running out of gas typing this out on my phone. It also fits like a glove. With camps and a little luck, Herb can improve that rebounding to around a B+ (10 a game) and be at worse an elite 3rd big. Really a fan of Herbs game.
