the Lasagna Kid's: Knights of the Round Table version 63
Welcome one and all to the rekindling of the Knights of the Round Table where we talk about life, vacations and of course BBS2020. The draft just happened, and now everyone is horned about TC. Thanks to Andy, beastly, Rob and Greeme for taking time out of their day to become a Knight!
Let’s get the obligatory questions over with shall we?
1. What was your top 5 on the draft board, and did you think 3 PG would be picked in the top 5?
greeme - fat, nance, zeke, tommy and ronaldo. I didn't think
Zeke - IT, Nance, Fat, Chambers, Buck. The draft is good though, they are interchangeable, Blackman would be at lowest 5 in the redraft after seeing him post camp. Should be a very good player. Chambers looks nice and had an improvement of Defense at SF thought Spence made him gimmicky and have him a way lower def rating at SF but it's the opposite lol.
Braz - My top 5 was the order of the top 4 + Chambers. I felt the draft was 8 maybe 9 deep so I do not see a huge deal with this.
nybombers3 - I think it was about right. Take out Buck and remove Chambers. Maybe Blackman instead of Sleepy. I was a little surprised 3 pgs went top 5 but I can see Sleepy being good so I get it.
2. Should I have taken Nance with the 2nd, and sleepy with the 5th?
greeme - didn't you have 2 and 4? anyway, fat was the right pick at 2. No idea why you took buck over chambers but thanks.
Zeke - I would have taken Nance or Fat 2nd then Chambers probably, still Buck and Fat are both good and it's not a bad pick. You should be straight as is.
Braz - No because then I would have Fat and I did not particularly want him. I think you ended up in a really good spot. However with youth and a rebuild know when to hold them and when to fold them. Both guys should have good name value at the least for deals!
nybombers3 - Na. I would've went Fat and then Chambers. Maybe trade down from 4 but it was early anyways. Buck should be ok. Just needs that tc love.
3. What are your plans this season? And how do you feel about your team?
greeme - I would like to reset but I don't have pg currently so it won't be easy. I like the jones/tree frontcourt but we really need a good tc. I have a bunch of picks this year - was det nj and mem - which i would like to flip for talent but I'm in no rush
Zeke - I'm still debating if I want to reset this year or next year so I can try to tank for "that" draft. Still undecided but I haven't made any win now offers yet so I'm probably tanking for Nique or Worthy or whoever Spence add for this next draft.
Braz - I look at my team and we are getting there. My situation is really no fault but my own. In the last 12 seasons I twice sold off my entire team for pennies. 1st to tank for Bird when I traded Mcginnis, lanier etc for crap. Then last year blew it up again. Its going to take me some time to recoup assets especially when I havnet been able to sign and trade someone for picks in a decade. I have 3 young guys in Cliff, Nance and Kiki. Do I think thats the core of a future title, absolutely not...but its what I got.
nybombers3 - Tank mostly. I guess we'll see how the season goes. I have a lot of wings and going to need some moves eventually. Need bigs. If we start the season well maybe we'll pivot.
4. Does habes easily reset? How many trades do you think he will make this season?
greeme - he will reset, not sure how easily but he will. 6 trades.
Not easily, he's still a big or two away from easily resetting though. Habes has always been innovative with trades so I doubt he don't reset. DJ is elite too.
Braz - I do not think anything is easy but it appears to be a market with a lot of talent out there. I see blocks with names like Dr J, Adrian Dantley, John Drew, Mo Cheeks. I think he already got a big and likely will find a few more. I hope he makes it but it should be a good one for him to trade, have fun and live with the results. Worst case if he gets fired I hope he is back like asap for obv reasons.
nybombers3 - I think he's in a great spot to reset. I'm sure he'll make another deal or two. Too lazy to look at his roster but aside from depth, I'm sure he has a solid lineup going.
5. Do you have anyone juicy that you cant wait to see their TC? What is your prediction for them?
greeme - Tommy chambers. I want to camp him before tc and see if he becomes an elite scorer. I would like to see him come out of tc B+ A- C B C+
Zeke - IT hopefully improves his outside, Higgins maybe why I'm answering this RT and looking for more, Hopefully Higgins B A post TC or similar. IT probably won't have sexy ratings on his first few seasons, but I'm confident his elite potential will carry him to something nice letter ratings wise B+ B A- A or a +3 TC is that too much to ask for?
Braz - I traded a lot and took on some real bad deals for Cliff. I didnt really want to trade him to start but added him for Bob Dandridge in order to reset. Kiki got the 15 so boards or stocks could be a nice add. Nance was my top pick so sure all exciting.
nybombers3 - Lister. Just work on Dc and rebounding. I'm interested in seeing maybe wings, mostly Mine and King. I feel like they both will have very solid tcs and look good after tc. I have a lot of youth so hoping tc is kind.
6. If you could only have one type of pizza for the rest of your life or lasagna, which would you choose?
greeme - lasagna
Zeke - Lasagna has always been superior, Pizza you tend to overeat to get your money's worth lol, and probably getting sick of Pizza on office places when they try to compensate something so yeah. Lasagna easily. And they're more tasty as is.
Braz - Honestly I like my pizza pretty simple. Usually a plain or marg slice. Cheese and Sauce. Once I start adding all the meats and stuff it gets so heavy. I also absolutely love Lasagna. I even like the crappy pre oven ones. I am sure if i got a good recipe we could make a nice one. I even saw something called "lasagna soup" which was just tomato sauce cheese and some other stuff more liquidy. looked okay.
nybombers3 - Buffalo chicken pizza. I do like me some Lasagna but who doesn't love pizza? Odd if you don't.
7. How good are the Spurs? What’s your over under on Ryan running it back?
greeme - I think the top teams were not as good last year as they were in the past. I could see him running it back based on what other people do
Zeke - Spurs are running it back I don't see the point of them rebuilding, that Hard Cap might be hard though, I heard he wants Chambers+ for Marques you know what to do Greeme.
Braz - This is a great core which the spurs were patient on. He took Marques at 5 i think back in the day, boosted him and never gave up. Ashes traded for Karl when others said f that. 100 Pot Karl now is nearly goated. He somehow got Mcadoo and made solid depth trades all around. The point of me writing all that is to just give credit to the GM for being patient and finding crafty ways to build with out going back to step 1. I think the team is very good and they can certainly win again but no guarantee.
Oh he's running it back. I think they'll be in the finals again.
8. Where is a vacation spot that isn't on everyone's to do list that you would recommend?
greeme - I'm going hiking in the mountains in France next week, i'll let you know how it goes.
Zeke - I rarely vacation, I'm a working student, let's talk in 4 years.
Braz - I mean I love living at the jersey shore. Aruba is my fav vacation spot to date. For our honeymoon we are between a few Caribbean places and iceland.
nybombers3 - Hm. Idk. We love ocean city. May do virgina beach later this month. I think both are popular. Always wanted to check Maine. Likely not as popular.
