1. Was Oscar the right pick at 1?
JR - I think Oscar was the correct pick, although i might’ve gone James Worthy. Like him as a player watching highlights at UNC and the Lakers with Magic. He was a fun player. Plus can play defense. Game won’t trade him him though.
Galo : Probably. Not too many wings come in (albeit at 24) with B+/A- aka elite scoring grades. With that said, Oscar is a couple years older than Nique and Worthy so you have to factor that in. I'll say as long as Oscar has about 80-85+ potential, he was definitely the right choice.
2. What was the most surprising pick of the draft?
JR - I think the Twolves picking Dale Ellis when he has no good bigs. He won’t even move his PGs for good bigs anyways. He’s a lost soul and the pick proves that.
Galo : I'd say Nikos going in the top 10. Certainly can make an argument for him to be in the top 10 especially if he's the sleeper we think he is. Would have loved to see chip maneuver down to get Nikos with let's say #8 at New Orleans and somehow land #14 as well. So you could get Nikos and conceivably Kellogg. Also speaking of Kellogg - surprised he fell out of lotto. You have to think Spence watches NCAA bball alot and listens to Kellogg alot.
3. Do the Spurs 3 peat?
JR - God i hope not. fuck that spurs GM!
Galo : Hope not since we're in the same division but ashes has built quite the squad. Marques is a load to deal with. But, they are getting to a point where they can only put minimum players around his stars so we'll see how that goes.
4. Which GMs do you consider great in FA? Which are the worst?
JR - Great in FA? Hard to tell because people usually overpay. I think Play and Greeme do a great job though. Beastly is obviously the worst he gave that big a max deal?? Am i missing something?
Galo : Hard to put rate this as a skill to be honest because a lot is luck in my opinion. kobe bitches all the time about his TCs and lack of development but Miami has landed at least 5-6 premier FAs that I can remember in 65+ seasons now - that's ALOT for one team. Feel like Mike always steals some nice FAs as well in his stints in Indy and NY. In terms of worst luck, idk maybe chipper or brian?
5. What was the best value deal so far in FA?
JR - Butch and carr coke to kind in terms of value. Magic is also valuable on that contract lol.
Galo : Lanier on a 1 year max with Utah.
6. Nets, Wiz and Mavs are in CY. Rank them from 1-3 currently (1 being most likely to make it, 3 least likely)
JR - Nets, Wiz Mavs. In that order haven’t seen Brian make a deal could be wrong been busy with my daughter.
Galo : 1 Mavs
2 Nets
3 Wiz
All three should make it though - i'd like to see more moves from Eddy though.
7. Which teams are in the worst shape going forward?
JR - Twolves are as sand he is unreasonable. Terrible situation gonna have to sell low on at least 1 of those PGs and that contract is HUE for Hubbard.
Galo : Boston comes to mind in the East. Obviously know Ahsan is dealing with personal stuff right now and it's kept him away from BBS. Wishing all the best to him and his fam in the situation. But he's sat on Kareem for this long and now he's coming up on his last year of his contract next year. They don't have their pick this year so they have to compete and hope Kareem doesn't retire and they can get something for his expiring contract next year. Webster is also a negative on that albatross contract and they just picked up another sizeable contract in Don Adams and still no real above average point guard on the roster. Looks a little challenging to me.
In the west, stool is an easy target due to some of his salary moves and indecision on his roster but it's getting close to the point he's going to have to hit the rebuild button soon too but at least he has his picks.
8. Who comes out of the East this year?
JR - I got Heat coming out the East. Kobe is an idiot at times but he’s more than competent and has Bird.
Galo : Still looks like it's between Orlando and Atlanta until further notice.
9. What position is the most saturated overall? Why?
JR - I’d say PGs is till over saturated. Hard not to be when the game wants PGs to succeed in TC.
Galo : Probably the wing spot. It's easy to find scoring wings right now. 2-way wings though are a little harder to come by.
10. Avoiding the obvious stars, is there any player(s) you want to draft that’s coming up?
JR - Craig Ehlo comes to mind. The guy Cleveland decided to put on MJ. He might’ve been a plumber if he was born 20 years later though. Big fan of Chris Mullin, and Mark Jackson too. Idk if they are considered obvious stars.
Galo : MJ
