1. Let's start with last CY. The Wiz missed it. Aside from Eddy being away, did they have any obvious issues that made them miss?
DeeperThanSims : I read in the contract thread that Eddy never posted a DC. I didn't verify but if that's true then smh... he would have got the 2 wins he needed and then some if he set his own DC. I can only chalk this up to not wanting to be here no mo, Eric Bledsoe shit.
JR - I mean he didn’t post a DC. The team looked fine i thought he was gonna make it tbh. He was too busy. I got cyd for not being active for 3 seasons and now he got CYd for not being active for his last 2.
Dream's Team : Yes. Not posting a DC. Also he could have added some depth during the season.
2. This year's cy features the Kings. After the LA deal, what needs to come next?
DeeperThanSims : He needs to get under the HC to start. I'm not sure how he's managed that in his CY... I'm very concerned. Even if the West sucks, you need to be able to fill out your team. After that, he desperately needs a PF. Ideally he can trade Theus for 1 but I doubt that's happening.
JR - Kings don’t need shit. The West is horrible and everybody is trying to tank. He could sit tight and make it imo.
Dream's Team : He still needs another good big or two. Elmore is okay but that front court is thin.
3. Was Clyde the correct choice at 1?
DeeperThanSims : For sure. Clyde is next elite SG in this league. His 3pt shot is the only weakness but this is FBB, he will end up being a solid A shooter in 3 seasons smh. Sampson's jumpshot is questionable and mediocre handles for a big that will shoot could be a problem, so he couldn't be #1 in my opinion.
JR - Personally i would’ve taken him. Sampson might’ve been the correct choice. I took Eaton over the GOAT Donaldson so don’t even listen to what i have to say about drafting.
Dream's Team : I think so. You couldn’t go wrong with either him or Sampson at #1. Personally I would have taken Sampson because bigs are so valuable in this league.
4. Congrats to the Magic. Is it their time now to run the league like the Hawks and Hawks before them or is there another team that can stop them?
DeeperThanSims : Congrats to the Magic. I've been voting for them for 3 seasons. I knew they'd get one eventually because Magic Johnson is a tough matchup for every team. I don't see a crazy run out of them though. They are in cap hell and the players he'd want to give away probably don't have value. My prediction is Marv will end up go for free and that will end any potential run.
JR - I mean if they can keep their core in tact they’ll be good to go for 5-6 more seasons. Cap is the only issue i see them having.
Dream's Team : Raptors with Bird. I think they are another move or two away from being unstoppable in the east and matching up with Orlando.
5. What was your favorite pick outside the lotto?
DeeperThanSims : I feel like Bob Hansen with his starting ratings and notes is guaranteed to be good so he was a strong pick at 16. I had him in the lotto. Rodney McCray at 24 was nice too. He's pretty close to Tony Campbell and I drafted him at 14.
JR - Darren Daye was my favorite pick outside the lotto. I wanted him but couldn’t reach. Probably gonna end up better then Cage anyways.
Dream's Team : Craig Ehlo. Obviously he was my pick and I traded two firsts for him, but I was shocked he was available after the top 10. I actually had him going 7/8 pre-draft. Didn’t really see any weaknesses in his notes or answers. I felt really good about this pick.
6. Would you have split this draft up or left it as is?
DeeperThanSims : Assuming you mean the MJ draft, no split up! I think it's fun for 4 teams to get a franchise guy in a single draft.
JR - 84 draft? I would’ve tossed one big name in this draft as once it didn’t have many all stars.
Dream's Team : Left it as is. Really good deep draft. Next one should be even better which we and 20 other teams are very excited about.
7. Who do you expect to get overpaid this fa?
DeeperThanSims : We as a league need to stop overpaying players. The league is really tight on salary because of these janky deals. I can see Mark Eaton getting maxed but he's not worth it with B- rebs. Tyler Terry gave me the same production when I started him.
JR - Mark Eaton and Toney.
Dream's Team : One of the veteran star bigs like Bobby Jones, Kermit etc. Probably Dino as well considering small forwards with his skill set are running the league nowadays.
8. What, if any, tweaks does the cy need?
DeeperThanSims : I think it just needs to be gone. Right now we are angling for Marty to take the Wizards. Marty was just CY'd 2 seasons ago I think... I would rather he just kept the Jazz and figured shit out. He's active and his shit talking is good for the league. I don't see the point in firing and rehiring the same GMs.
JR - Maybe if you don’t make it your fourth year you drop 10 spots in the draft and keep your team for one more season where you have to win 45 games to stay in the league.
Dream's Team : I like the CY as is. Wouldn’t change a thing.
9. What stats does MJ put up as a rookie?
DeeperThanSims : Probably 26/7/5 with 2 steals and a block? I'm not expecting 30PPG out the gate since MJ is coming in with a lower outside rating. Honestly, Kiki fucking Vandeweghe is scoring how we'd expect MJ to score so who cares lmao. I'm more interested in Barkley Dream and Stockton.
JR - 34/7/4? Idk hard to make a rookie that good. He deserves it though. Elite scorer and can everything else very well. I wish i could have some luck and land him.
Dream's Team : 28 pts, 6 boards, 4 asts, 3 steals, 1 block. Efficient shooting %’s. Just scary good.
10. Prediction. Tell me something about the top 4 rookies of this past draft.
DeeperThanSims : Clyde will be an elite SG for years to come. I see Sampson being a star rebounding/block big that can put up 15 PPG. Alvin Robertson and Doc Rivers should be very good, borderline stars.
JR - Clyde Drexler should do around 23 ppg 5 rpg. Sampson 16/10/2 bpg Alvin 14 ppg 6 rpg and 5 assists over 2 steals per game. Manute Bol 6ppg 8 rpg and 3bpg
Dream's Team : Clyde and Sampson will be all stars.
Alvin Robertson will make a few all defensive teams.
Bol? He’ll be a solid backup big at most.
