Sittin one on one with me today we have the new dude in the league, Michael!
1. How you feeling?
Michael : Good, thanks for having me. Been a busy few days with work and a bachelor party but I can dedicate some time to sim leagues again. 2. So you've been here for around 3 days. What are you planning to do with the Kings?
Michael : Not the easiest of situations but I like what I have to work with. I don’t really like inheriting a ready-built team so this is kinda nice. It is hard to assess how well this team will do this season, as the core from last season is more or less intact and this team won 41 games, but the priority right now is to trade away players above the age of 31 for whatever I can get. Still undecided on Cheeks and Theus as I need some time to grasp their value, but they are not franchise cornerstones that’s for sure, perhaps just solid starters for a playoff team. 3. Looking at your team, who/what would you consider your best asset?
Michael : It’s between Cheeks and Theus and I’m leaning towards Theus. A bit younger and has the size and skillset to play SG. 4. Have you been given any interesting advice regarding BBS/FBB in general?
Michael : BBS has a bit of a bad rep in some of the leagues I’ve been around and I kinda get it. Not everyone is down for a chaotic, fast-paced league and there were times where I was also fine with a slower pace league. But I have some time now and wanted to give it a go. Also having been here for a few days, there is chaos but the league is also organized and well-ran by Spencer, and I rate that. 5. What would be your ideal FBB team?
Michael : Best player on the team at PG, elite outside-oriented wings as 2nd and 3rd options, and big men with A defense and rebounding with a minimum of B scoring, but won’t be asked to do much scoring. 6. Tell us about your past FBB experiences.
Michael : Got into it 15 years ago, played throughout high school but stopped for a while. Got back into it around 2-3 years ago during Covid, mainly through a league called NBN. Unfortunately it shut down and I was out of it again for a few months, then found myself a few leagues to join in recent months. 7. You were given an opportunity to change to the Raptors but declined. Why?
Michael : Kinda answered it above because I didn’t see this question yet, but if I took over that team, I probably wouldn’t have moved much as it would’ve been the sensible thing to do. The Kings are in a limbo and allows me to explore more deals in my opinion. Might regret it later but I’m happy with this decision. 8. Who do you think is the best team in the league currently?
Michael : The reigning champs are always gonna be up there but the loss of Hodges does make it interesting. That said, MRR looks like a cheat code so it’s hard to leave them out of best team discussions. The other cheat code in the league appears to be Magic on the Magic. That looks like a very good squad to me. But I have much to learn in this league and still need to take a deep dive into the index. Woulda been nice if I can somehow access previous years but I don’t think you guys keep that? 9. As a new GM here, what are your thoughts on the contract year?
Michael : Love the idea. Something that’s really hard to execute without a waitlist but this league somehow manages one. Hopefully I can last more than 3 seasons. 10. Any interesting trade discussions thus far?
Michael : Just made my first trade. Nothing world changing but happy to get a prospect in return. No names but the most interesting offer I got so far was for me to give Cheeks away for just cap. Odd. 11. Tell us something interesting about yourself.
Michael : I live in Hong Kong so in a very different timezone to most of y’all. |

It does seem to have a bad reputation. Its funny I posted in SLO and got Steve obviously saying not to join but then i asked a couple guys and got a "lol no way" and a couple no responses.
Im not sure why it gets a bad rap but it is what it is. I know this wont be everyone's favorite league but I think its hard to join and be here and active and not see its benefits.
I like the different perspectives though

While we've had our ups and down, the GM's have always made things interesting, the rules have made the out-dated FBB a lot more engaging, while we've kept it going for numerous variations and seasons. Contract Year, post pads, ACs/RCs all these things have made BBS what it is today. I can't believe it actually has a bad rep but like I said that's from people who've probably never experienced it. |

While we've had our ups and down, the GM's have always made things interesting, the rules have made the out-dated FBB a lot more engaging, while we've kept it going for numerous variations and seasons.
