Nanz Lasagna and tears of failure nybombers3
1. 3 GMs are entering their CY; Diego, Jah, and Ahsan. It appears like Jah is the only one who will make it. If you were GM of the Clippers or Celtics, what move would you make to give it a final run to reset?
Nanz: CLipeprs you gotta trade Charles and get some talent in there… real tough shape for the other LA team. Celtics man how did it go so wrong for our boy. Get some rebounds and some help in ther? Maybe try to get Gray from big Micheal? Lord
Brian: Clippers got Barkley that they could move for a buttload, alas it looks like this team is similar to the one Diego got from lums, and will be ready to compete next year, not this one.
Celtics have no one to move that would bring in enough talent to push the needle.
Andy: Clippers could use some guard help for sure. Barkley isn't ready to start, Alvin is blah right now. Another good scoring guard would likely help them a lot amount. Celtics, idk. Obviously heal KAJ and a different DC but if Ahsan has to much going on right now, might as well let someone else handle them.
2. Should they be fired, which former GMs would you like to see come back to take their spots?
Nanz: ummm who is out there? Obviously Pig and Mark but I don’t think they would come back yet. Meh I guess not many options out there? Bring more new guys I guess and hope they work out.
Brian: Love outlawz to come back, ofc Mark and Pig… hmmm who else?
Andy: Mark, Pig. Past those two, idk. Trying to think of dudes who left rather then got CY'd. Oh and #bringbackbreak.
3. Given the lack of GMs, is it finally time to take a look at the CY process and maybe get rid of it or alter it? I’m not sure how we can add GMs on Ahsan or Diego’s level should they be canned.
Nanz: I love the CY and it makes it fun but yeah I guess with the lack of a waiting list it makes it tougher. I mean just win 42 ffs.
Brian - I’ve been advocating for a different CY for a while, but really typically the only reason you get CY’d is if you dig too deep a hole. I can see it happening if you are chasing a title, and I think that’s kinda what happened to Ashan.
Andy - Instead of getting fired, the rule in the other league looks pretty solid. You have to win a certain amount going forward or your pick drops. Prevents someone from just tanking and doesn't continuously fire GM's. Maybe those GM's would be on the chopping block and if they don't make an effort to win then they get fired. idk. I'm not sure firing is it anymore.
4. The trade market has been abysmal for a few seasons now. This is due to a few reasons - the juicy draft classes and inflation really starting to take over. Spence gave us a trade frenzy yesterday, but we still failed to see big deals happen. What changes can we make to improve the trade market?
Nanz: I mean not to sound like a broken record but restart? If you get one of these dudes it seems people are just not trading them. I don’t know, I like to trade tho… maybe people can learn to love?
Brian - Think the trade market is really been caused by the all out tanking first for Magic and Bird, then for MJ. You had a couple teams compete and get trades in a buyers market, and now you either have young teams that can see if the players can improve, and old teams that want the young players, but the old teams really have nothing to offer the young teams. As an example, Hawks sent what 8 seasons ago would have been a pretty slam dunk offer, but I'd rather see if my guy is any good. I have the time an luxury to do so.
Andy: I mean, the frenzy that just past came in a rough time. During the season, you usually won't see a lot of big deals. Maybe an offseason or deadline frenzy would be cool. As for fixes, idk. I think ratings need to be lowered maybe while they have high potential or higher ratings with much lower potential. Maybe VET camps where dudes making hgih 20 Mil salaries can see some growth as well (or at least they maintain value) to help with their worth overall?
5. At first glance, this looks like the best overall draft in recent memory. In the past, we have seen drafts be extremely too heavy, with late lottery picks being nearly worthless. It does not seem like that will be the case going forward. Rank your top 5 prospects for this draft, in order.
Nanz: would have loved to have a top 6 pick in this draft instead ugh FML… I’ll go with Ewing – Malone – Sabonis – Mullin - Drazen
Brian: Ewing, Karl, Chris, Detlef and Oak and Xman tie for 5th
Andy: Ewing. Then Ewing. After that Ewing. At 4 it's Ewing and to round it off, Ewing. Yup.
6. Piggybacking off the last Q, would you like to continue seeing deeper drafts, where the top isn’t so top heavy? Should we have top prospects have a higher bust rate (lower ratings and higher potential)?
Nanz: def like deeper draft although this is going to suck for awhile. Lower rated players will be coming in who just wont compete with the higher rated guys for a while but its best in the long run. I think there are certain players you just can’t bust .. it would be too weird but deeper drafts should help teams win more.
Brian: Deeper drafts is better, and random busts is nice. I miss being able to find guys late that can end up being really good.
Andy: Spencer already said he's not big on busts. I get it with the CY. That said, I think this is a pretty solid draft. Let me get value out of the later picks again. Let me get value out of those blah looking ratings guys. I want more of that.
7. Who do you think will make the ECF, WCF and Finals? Give me your predictions.
Nanz: Lord I’ll go with the Magic bouncing back and taking it to the finals again. On the West, I like the start the Mavs are off to but the Lakeshow will come in and take it all!!!!!!
Brian: Hawks- Bulls / Suns – Jazz
Hawks – Suns
Hawks
Andy: Hawks/Magic Vs Suns/Nuggets. Magic/Suns finals. Magic win.
8. Say something nice about the Sim man, Spencedog.
Nanz: hell of a guy! He;s the top dog! The Bees knees! The cats pajamas! What more can I say?! The guy is the GOAT commish
Brian: One of the best personalities I've had the pleasure of meeting via these online sim leagues. Have been in leagues with him going back to 2014? and have always enjoyed my interactions. I really regret that while we were out in the bay area the timing to meet him fell through because I gave into family pressure.
Andy: GOAT sim dude. Great guy overall. Not sure what else needs to be said.
