1. Al Jefferson C 20 7'0'' 292 B C- D+ B- B+ A
Al Jeff is way better than I expected him to be. Monster stocks (3.3 at 20), <1 tpg, 17 PPG on 51/73, and 10 RPG in 29 MPG. He and Dwight are both monsters, but only one of them offers excellent offense with low turnovers.
2. Dwight Howard C 20 7'0'' 231 B D+ C- B+ B+ A
4.6 stocks at 20 with B+ defense and rebounding. It was hard ranking Al Jeff ahead of him, but I love Al Jeff’s offense, and he’s not far behind Dwight with 2.6 BPG. Dwight’s turnover happy and bad on offense, but he could be the next Big Ben.
3. Andris Biedrins C 19 7'1'' 245 C+ D- D B+ A- B
Another monster big in the Big Ben mold. Elite rebounder, 3.2 stocks, and <1 turnovers. He doesn’t use any volume on offense, so his uselessness there isn’t worth commenting on. Cornerstone big.
4. Andre Emmett C 23 6'5'' 233 C+ C C B B B
He has no flaws and does 2.7 stocks to .4 turnovers per game. Should be an above average rebounder in his prime. Maybe he should be even higher!
5. Kevin Martin SG 22 6'7'' 205 B- A C- C C- B
Still really flawed, but he’s averaging 22 on 51/87/44 and <1 turnover per game, plus he has elite steals. His defense and rebounding are bad, but you can live with them, and he’s one of the most efficient scorers in the league.
6. Josh Smith SF 20 6'11'' 230 B B C B C+ A
Extremely pretty ratings to go with 4 stocks, but he averages 2.6 turnovers per game and shoots 41/68/37. I like him a lot, and think he could leapfrog Kevin Martin, but he doesn’t have the rebounding to start at PF, and that’s rough offense from a wing.
7. Devin Harris PG 22 6'3'' 190 C+ A- B A- C- B
This guy is good stuff. C+/A- scoring, sub-2 turnovers per game, and high steals. He’s camped out, so I’m not sure he can become elite, but a 22 year-old PG with good scoring, handles, and steals is extremely valuable.
8. Trevor Ariza SF 20 6'8'' 221 C+ A D A- C+ B
Gave up on him because his volume was so low, but Sargo has it in fine shape. Very good rebounder with an excellent three point shot and solid stocks. There’s so much wing talent that his ceiling is probably as a high-end fourth or fifth starter if his inside scoring doesn't increase, but he looks great.
9. Tony Allen SF 23 6'4'' 218 B- C+ C A C+ A
Who is this man? We don’t know yet; Greeme doesn’t AC his players. But Tony’s extremely promising. Shooting guards with A defense and C+ rebounding don’t exist, and this one has good handles, A potential, and +18 that you can pour into his offense. He could explode. Spence should change his name to Andre Iguodala (Correct Version).
10. Andre Iguodala SG 21 6'6'' 221 B B- C+ A- C B
Didn’t know where to slot him in. His ratings were flat and his scouted potential dropped in TC, but he clearly improved his shooting. He’s a lock for elite steals and perimeter defense, and I think his offense is redeemable. I’d bet he has plenty of potential left, but he’s a wing with mediocre scoring and a handling issue. Shabby.
11. Shaun Livingston PG 20 6'8'' 195 C+ C+ B- A C B
I didn’t know where to put him. This is probably too high. A defense and C rebounding are nice from a PG, and he seems to have high midrange. But he doesn’t shoot threes, is a subpar scorer overall, and averages nearly three turnovers per game. The saving grace: he has +16 left, including +8 available for his handles.
12. Kris Humphries PF 20 6'10'' 241 C+ C D+ C+ A- A
Averages 14 rebounds per 36 and does 2.1 stocks with 1 tpg. Flashed A scouted potential after his first TC and has kept it. There are 11 A- or better rebounders in BBS. Who cares about the scoring wings below him?
13. Emeka Okafor PF 23 6'10'' 257 C+ D+ D B B B
Emeka is pretty good. He averagers 12 rebounds and 3 blocks per 36, and he isn’t a liability on offense. I put Humphries ahead of him because elite rebounding is rare and Hump seems to have higher potential.
14. J.R. Smith SG 20 6'6'' 229 B A- C- C+ C B
JR’s a solid volume scorer, but he’s camped out and doesn’t provide value on defense or the glass. I love him as a supersub.
15. Luol Deng SG 20 6'9'' 240 B- B C- C+ C B
Sigh. Man was the total package and had an incredible rookie year, but he was flat in his first TC and regressed in his second one, and he’s camped out. He’s better than a lot of the guys ranked ahead of him, but Spence all but confirmed that there’s not much left in the developmental tank for my former friend. Hard to rank him higher. I love you.
16. Ben Gordon SG 22 6'3'' 203 C+ A C C+ D+ B
Ben can score. He’s averaging 25 PPG on 48/90/43. But he’s nearly camped out, he’s a liability on defense and on the glass, and he hasn’t developed in TC. I like him as a backup combo guard.
17. Anderson Varejao PF 23 6'10'' 270 C+ D+ D+ B- B B
He went +4 in TC and has +21 left in the TANK. He’s also averaging 13 rebounds per 36 minutes. This article’s for you, pimp.
18. Sebastian Telfair PG 20 6'0'' 165 C B A- C+ D+ A
Horrible player whose A potential is real. Needs ACs to his inside scoring and handles to have a chance.
19. Dorell Wright SG 20 6'9'' 207 C B+ C B C C
Dorell’s a really nice backup. High steals, low turnovers, solid rebounding, and 40+% from three.
20. Jameer Nelson PG 23 6'0'' 193 C B+ C+ B D+ B
Did some good stuff as a rookie: shot 47% and averaged around 2.4 turnovers per 36. But he’s nearly camped out and doesn’t provide volume, steals, or rebounding. Barring a surprise TC, I’m not sure he’ll be a starter.
