Agreed.
Hate the value -- Habes gets the best of me Pt deux! -- but this is clearly going to help us win games in the playoffs this year, which is the task at hand.
Smith is a couple more upgrades away from being the type of outside shooting force that is easy to win with. And his contract/production value will carry a lot of weight if/when he hits the B-/A- scoring mark at $1.5M over the next three years.
Anderson has A- defense @ PG and is one of the best backup PG's in the league.
Bonzi is fun. That was a good pick. He was behind MJ and Spree. And isn't as good as Smith is right now. Let's hope these fellas help us win a 'ship.

confirm. steve is as good as i said he is and will be a beast with RCs and ACs. kudos to skillz on seeing it. hope bonzi's good; happy to have a third young piece to develop.

Bonzi will be fun. I think he's quite a bit more valuable than whatever mid 1st Habes could have eventually gotten.
But with the pick trading limitations, I think it is necessary to view all moves through both a 1 and 3-year prism. From a 1-year prism, Smith is better than Bonzi.
And through 3 years.... While Bonzi was initially MJ-retirement insurance (Spree to start at SG; Bonzi to backup 1/2/3 in case of retirement), Smith serves that purpose just as well. He's 31. He'll get his full set of camps. So he should be just fine in 02 and 03.

Good deal for both. Bonzi obviously better long term play but Steve Smith is a finished product.

Biggest regrets were not taking Foyle and passing on Bonzi for Vlade. Rushed during a conference call.
If I traded for Hakeem before my pick, definitely would have passed on Vlade but oh well.
