BBS (NO) Power Rankings
Hey yall. Have had no power, internet or cable. I did this without much knowledge of what has gone on in the past 20 hours! wooooo! So, love it or hate it, suck it!! Wow! What an offseason it is turning out to be. This might be the most active offseason we have had yet. We have seen countless trades and movement with players making multiple stops before finding a home and even then, it may only be temporary. Let’s dive into DB’s BBS Power Rankings for across the entire league. YEEEEEE!!
CONTENDERS
1. Cleveland Cavaliers
- Going into the season, and even though they traded KVH, I think the Cavs have to be considered the favorite. Still comprised of Dirk and KG, they added some solid youth/outside shooters in Joe Johnson and Josh Howard. I think this squad will still be feared in the East. 2. Sacramento Kings
- Traded away Ben Wallace and I still have them up top. The Kings just added Ricky Fucking Davis to their roster with Kobe and Kaman. Plus, not to mention, Dong Reid, LJ and others, they still have a strong squad. I am writing this without POWER and, but I heard about the trade through my lucky pigeon Gary Sinise, who delivered the news not too long ago. 3. Indiana Pacers
- I like this squad…A LOT. When you add Ben Wallace and Manu Ginobili in the offseason to already a talent young squad, I think you have to fear them. Josh Smith, Trevor Ariza round them out, which make this lineup as deadly as anyones. The only problem is at the 1…Can they find a man to run the show? 4. Utah Jazz
- LeBron James. Enough said. JR was gifted by the lotto gods and JR has never let go of him. Why should he? He torched the Trail Blazers in the playoffs only to fall to the Kings in 7 in the WCF. But with every new year, LeBron only gets better and better. This team has some solid role players that round out the roster but nothing near a 2nd star…yet. Can Tayshaun take that leap or does JR need to trade off some pieces to get that Robin?5. New York Knicks
- I like Skillz squad. I think it’s fun and has a lot of interesting pieces. When you combine all these pieces and Billups you get a top 5 team in the league. Billups just makes everyone around him better. He is an elite pg and the best in the league right now. Lots of rebounding, lots of shooters. This is a good squad. FOR NOW!6. Dallas Mavericks
- Habes or harold just added Jamal Crawford to an already fun and dynamic squad. Led by Dwyane Wade I think habes has a really good shot at competing for the title this year. I am very curious to see why kind of leaps some of his players make. Zbo in the front court, Wade and Craw in the backcourt. Awesome team. Harold is my friend and I am comfortable in saying that.7. Detroit Pistons
- Galo has done it. He has paired a star with Tim Duncan. Agent Zero is an elite point guard in this league. He scores and he scores. The problem with the Pistons though is they don’t have much else around him. I will give Timmay and Gilbert the benefit of the doubt and have them in the top 10. I don’t see them winning it all as they just proved they can’t, but who knows. (EDIT – AK addition helps) OUTSIDE LOOKING IN
8. Portland Trail Blazers
- Hey! This is my squad. I like them this year. You’re probably wondering if I am actually going to start Luke Ridnour at point guard and the answer is yes! I think he can be a serviceable point with KVH and Carter at the wing, followed up with Curry, Collins, Blatche and rookie Craig Smith in the front court. Rebounding might be an issue but who gives a fuck, shut up about it! 9. Seattle Super Sonics
- My friend Mark has an up and coming top 10 squad in this league. He has a lot of good, young pieces. Chris Paul is the future of BBS. Mark turned this Super Sonics team from a bunch of nobody hacks who never made it to the playoffs to a top 10, feared squad! Job well done. If only he listened to me a traded for Vince Carter. SAD! Tmac, CP3, Dwight, Artest oh my gawwwwwd. 10. Washington Wizards
- Camby, Predrag (whom is very underrated), Redd and Terry round out this squad who lost Haslem over the summer to the Sonics. The Wizards are still a very solid squad but definitely have lost a step. I’m not sure if Jah is willing to make the necessary moves to take them to the next level. He seems complacent as usual. Even though he missed out in FA, I still like what they have to offer as whole. We shall see if he makes any sort of splash of anything at all!11. Chicago Bulls
- The Chicago Bulls should be a feared squad. They just traded away Ricky Davis for Rudy Gay which definitely makes them lose a big step in offensive weapons. I love Lou and TP though in this team’s backcourt. Lou is sick and should be starting. Not sure why he wasn’t last year or at least a super sub back up. I just don’t think they have enough right now taking that step back to be in the top 10. 12. Los Angeles Lakers
- My good pal Nanz comes in at the 12 spot. He has some nice pieces, but I don’t think they’re quite there yet. If Melo takes a huge jump that could be another story and they could see themselves back in the top 10. I love Baron and Jamison though. Great players once upon a time they were Blazers. I think Nanz can get back to being on top though, he might need to quit the links for a night or two! 13. Memphis Grizzlies
- Jeff, Jeff, Jeff, when are you going to find, whatever the hell it is you’re looking for. The Grizzlies are actually not a bad team this year. They have some decent pieces that should get them 42 plus wins and get them out of the CY debacle. Sometimes you scratch your head with Jeff and wonder what the hell he is thinking. He should be able to reset it this year though. Steve Nash should be able to save one more GM. 14. Los Angeles Clippers
- If Outlawz posted, did it really matter? Seems like a guy who is too busy right now with life to be joining a sim league. It might be best to just let someone else take over like Lums. So far he hasn’t signed anyone, or made any moves really. This team could get him 42 wins and that’s about it. MIDDLE OF THE PACK
15. New Orleans Hornets
- I am not sure the direction my man Pig is taking but I have been giving him a hard time lately so I will be gentle. If he is trying to tank, he has too many guys on here who can help him win and he needs to deal them! I thought with his moves he was going to tank but now it looks like he is trying to win. I never know with this guy though! Sjax is on his roster though and Skillz has been trying to deal me him for years…I got nothing else to say about that! 16. Orlando Magic
- The Magic are the type of team that have some nice pieces on paper but are just not quite there yet to being legit contenders. Even with the addition of AI, which I loved, they still don’t have enough firepower to contend. Lots of their youth on the roster still needs developing. Al Jefferson and David Lee are some nice pieces though. Who would have thought that Al Jeff for AI was the first vetoed traded and eventually they both end up on the Magic! Wow! Sports huh. 17. Phoenix Suns
- Andrew has made some retooling moves this past year. His team looks like they’re in much better position again. Deron need to make a huge jump this TC. Hope he proves something, and he is worthy of being a top pick. Amare has always looked nice and was just given a big contract. Andrew hope he takes a jump as well. Besides those two pieces and Pau Gasol, the former number 1 overall pick, the Suns don’t have much else. Balkman looks interesting but I fear his potential is tapped out. Suns need more weapons. 18. Toronto Raptors
- Game’s Raptors are again in similar position as last year. They have Yao Ming and Ray Allen. With Andre Miller at the point, you gotta wonder how many more times Game will put out this roster before he does something. This is not a contending roster and barely one that makes the playoffs. Allen being hurt most of last year did hurt their success, but I think they need more here. I would trade Ray and build around Yao. 19. Minnesota Timberwolves
- Jeb’s lack of activity has definitely hurt any of his chances of having a successful team lately. He managed to avoid the CY but seem to have fallen right back into being mediocre. I love Chris Bosh and Mike Bibby. Great players. I would trade Bibby and try to build around Bosh. 20. Milwaukee Bucks
Andy’s team is in rough shape. I like Andy but they probably needed an extra CY because this team that was left to him was a mess and Chipper did not do him any favors. Brandon Roy is a nice start, it’s too bad it wasn’t a better draft though. Dally, Roy, Sheed and Finley is a good start. They will need some more help though I think. It will be tough to get that 42 but this team might do it. TANKERS/BOTTOM OF THE LEAGUE
21. New Jersey Nets
I rate Greeme’s Nets here so low because they honestly aren’t ready yet and probably could use another year of tanking. He has some nice pieces in Telfair and Ben Gordon along with David West but not contending pieces. By the looks of this Power Rankings not even top 20! He just added Calderon but that won’t help with his Defense much. He still is a few moves away. 22. Philadelphia 76ers
My man Steve here is tanking. This is where the tankers live. Steve had to shed salary and had to do a lot of it. He has Randy Foye which is a nice piece to start the Tank off with. He also managed to add a ton of picks which I love. He will figure it out and get back to winning again. 23. Golden State Warriors
Manas made his CY and tore it down the next off-season. It was a horrible rebuild and he has to start over again. Hopefully he has all his picks. His team has Thabo, Kyle Lowry and Louis, whom all seem like nice pieces and a good start to the rebuild. Maybe Manas will have better success this time around with the rebuild. 24. Houston Rockets
- My man here has tore it down again. Lots of decent pieces. GWall, Iggy, Felton, Chucky Hayes, but no stars and really no offense. His team needs a lot of help. Luckily, I believe they have their picks. He is going to need a lot of help and the right moves from here on out. 25. Boston Celtics
-Ugh! Where do I begin. Brian’s team is a MESS imo. He was rebuilding and somehow has added pieces on the 44-win Warrior team last year. Theo Ratliff has lost a step and is only getting worse. Walker is not that good. He can score and rebound well but not much else. Bogut is the best piece on this roster which is nice to have along with Livingston and Gerald Green who could turn into something. Even JJ might be something interesting. They still need a lot of work and definitely aren’t there yet. He should be tanking again but some reason added these vets! 26. San Antonio Spurs
- Wow John finally did it. He tore down that mess of a roster and started tanking! Yay! Now, he didn’t have to tank, all I am saying is making some moves. Have fun with it! It wasn’t working so try something different. Finally, he is trying something different. Stay tuned! Or not.. IDK, it might be awhile again. 27. Atlanta Hawks
- The Hawks stink, footy knows it too! They’re taking again but you gotta love some of their pieces. Andrew Bynum looks legit and PJ Tucker went up to A outside after being moved to SF when he hasn’t even seen a TC yet!! WTF!!! Crazy shit. Anyway, tank again, get another top pick, see if it plays. Good stuff. 28. Miami Heat
- Kobe looks to be rebuilding and tanking in the right draft. He is going for that number 1 pick. He better get rid of Pacc though!! This team wants the golden goose! 29. Denver Nuggets
- I hope Royal still has his first when I am writing this. His team is a mess but at least they have they’re first this year. Paul Milsap is a nice and should be a good player in this league. Beno has become a solid point guard, needs to lower those TOs but he is solid. Otherwise the Nuggets are far away from winning 42 games and need a lot of help. This is Royal’s final year and even THE GREAT Allan Houston won’t save him.
