PSA you need a 750w power supply if you are going to upgrade to the monster that is the RTX 3080 per nVidia. Also the RTX require not1, not 2, but 3 4pin power cords (adapter included since afaik no PS on the market currently has a 12 pin connector ) A great video about the RTX 3000 series boards ( Play) After doing some research, I decided to go with an 850 that was highly rated and had a ton of reviews, and traded a little bit of fan noise for 50 to 80 dollars in savings. www.newegg.com/seasonic-focus-plus-850-gold-ssr-850fx-850w/p/N82E16817151188?Item=N82E16817151188Maybe after I do the upgrade to the 3080 ashes and Erbes will let me join in on their reindeer games (even though I suck at non rtgs games)

My brother is building a cpu for gaming. Any suggestions on how to do that he has never done this. watch videos. building a machine is pretty straight forward, but like everything, the more you've worked on PCs the more "tricks" you know / and or do without thinking. I can build a machine in my sleep, but if I was to write a step by step, I'd skip like 30-50 of the steps

Yeah i was more so asking about specific parts lol what to buy and all that depends on price point if I was gonna build another dream rig I'd fork out about 2.4K and have the latest i9 10900k processor (860.00) with 64GB ram. prol same MB I currently have (300), and an RTX 3080 (750) case (110) ps (160) etc

ohhhhh def tell him to get at least 1000w power supply. all the new graphics cards coming out are going to power sucks. i plan on getting the nvidia RTX 3080 graphics card myself. everything else is kinda whatever. usually each gaming pc comes with two hard drives. make sure one is at least 1 TB to store games. get as much RAM as computer will hold lol. he does not need a water cooling system - do not fall for the cool look! a regular fan is fine.

If that is the case wait on the PS too as you will still need the adapter

I payed an extra 150 for my i9 cause I waited and then I wasn't willing to wait for the market to stabilize (which it didn't for 6-9 months)
