Sup fellas! Please vote 5, thanks! Still a lot of meat on this bone
1. Just about halfway through the season, let’s take the temperature of the CY teams. It looks like the Hornets, Lakers, and Sixers are all safe, Jeb has no shot, and Outlawz is probably 50/50. Does Outlawz make it?
JR: I don’t think clippers make it personally. I’m not sure he deserves it either. I have seen collapses where teams lose 10-15/20 so nobody is safe yet. An injury hits and they could be gone. But yeah i shouldn’t bet on clippers making CY.
Skillz: I think he'll make it. If he doesn't, it's the single most disappointing showing of any CY-team n this version, given the amount of value that was on the Clippers roster just 1-2 weeks ago. Outlawz has made a number of unforced errors - and has compounded his errors with low-activity interspersed with brash and abrasive comments - which is the perfect formula for a Contract Year embarrassment. With that said, his team has a positive point differential and he will have more desire to win than the other teams at the bottom of the West.
Andy: I think he should make it. He has the assets if need be to make a big move, although I don't know what else is really out there. They have had a good sim not to long ago to the team is capable. Just have to find what works. He might as well start writing some articles and camping some of these dudes. That alone should help him.
2. Should HeatFlash just get the T’Wolves now?
JR: No he shouldn’t. If he was a real AGM he would help by changing the dc. He’s standing by and letting the team lose cus he wants a team lmao. Don’t reward that!
Skillz: I don't know if it necessarily needs to go to HeatFlash [my man RC - who has written an ARTICLE!], but I do think it makes sense to replace Jeb. Jeb is a super nice guy but he seems busy and clearly gave up in his Contract Year. There's enough interest in the league right now so it doesn't make sense for there to be a vacant team.
Andy: 100% yes or whoever the next in line is. I believe they need to go 30-15 to reset and let's be honest, that's not going to happen. They don't have a ton of assets to make moves, they are using a tanking DC during their CY and completely lack the creativity to make moves that are necessary. I just don't see the point in keeping jeb around. Rip the bandaid and let the new GM get half a season to get used to things before really getting started. I already know who's going to complain about this but he'll be alright. It's time. We all know this so why wait?
3. Has there ever been a more pathetic GM showing than Booker? What the hell was that?
JR: His gming wasn’t the problem imo. He talked shit then seemed liked he couldn’t handle the talking shit back. Acting like a straight up BITCH if you ask me.
Skillz: I [tried to] stay away from that thread, but it didn't sound pretty. I'm just glad that the situation was rectified and it looks like the new Toronto GM seems to be a great addition. Booker goes in the record books next to 13Rock, Break and Lums in terms of ...uh....interesting...GM tenures.
Andy: It's funny. People here talk shit to each other. You can either enter and decide to engage or sit out and just try to avoid it. If you decide you want to shit on people in this league then fine. You can't up and quit when it comes back to you. Soft shit. It's likely that it was for the best anyways. It just seems like nothing positive was coming from that tenure. That hiring thread they did was corny.
4. BBS has never been more wide open. I personally think Utah is the favorite, but if you had to choose today, who are you betting on? And do you see someone making a big move that could throw a wrench into things?
JR: Sonics when CP3 returns or Cavs are the favorites. Pretty simple as of now IMO. We are good but have our flaws. Mavericks could make a big move. Only team i see in striking distance and has the assets to do it.
Skillz: Dallas. The Mavs have more value on their team than any other squad in the league. They already have a good lineup and have prospects to make further improvements. Utah, Seattle and Dallas are the three scariest teams in the league. The top of the East sucks again. Svedda or I i guess will have to make a move?
Andy: I like the Mavs and the Sonics. Sonics look like a solid team without CP3. With him they are easily a top team. Mavs have good talent and a good mix of youth and vets. They can easily sell more of their youth for a ring. Those two aside, not sure. The Jazz always should have a shot with LeBron. Out East idk. Then again, we thought this last year and the Celtics won it all.
5. What can we do to minimize negativity in trade threads? Anything?
JR: Well one league I’m in doesn’t allow you to comment on the trade till it is processed. Could you imagine that here lmaoooo. But no. This is the biggest knock i have against the league. There are clicks and in those clicks there are sheep. Sheep piggyback off of their other clicks posts comments etc. If y’all think it’s hue crew think again i argue with them all. Anyways there’s no way this is fixable it’s what the league is.
Skillz: I don't know if negativity is just reserved to trade threads. It's everywhere! It shouldn't bother anyone if people criticize individual trades or have strong opinions, but we got to keep some of these threads from devolving. On trades, my number one suggestion would just be....don't do sketchy trades with your friends. On threads, have some self-awareness (speaking to my self here too). When in doubt, post a funny gif instead of personally insulting someone! Dogsit some dogs! IDK!
Andy: Nothing. I mean sure, it's annoying to see every 3rd trade blow up into something that it shouldn't be or it's annoying to make a trade and watch everyone blow up your moves when their's aren't any better but whatever. Let's be honest. It's pretty BBS for this stuff to happen so why change it. If you don't like it then just avoid it. If anything, just get the ol post count up. That aside though, yeah, nothing can or should be done about the negativity. People just gotta chill on both ends.
6. IMO game going around acting honorable in how he handled the CY is annoying and incredibly misleading. He got gifted Kobe in a deal just about everyone thought was a joke, and ten days later spends half his posts acting like he’s the CY moral standard. Stupid. Am I reading this wrong?
JR: He didn’t move all his firsts ala the other CYd teams do yes he is honorable in that sense. I got better moving Kobe so idk why it was a joke. Shaq won Dpoty and went to the finals. It was everybody in the league that made the trade bad. Actually if he kept Shaq he might’ve had a better chance. So yes that trade was fine and you are wrong.
Skillz: No, you are 100% right. Game is doing what many of us do when we are embarrassed and seized the moral high-ground and played the victim in lieu of taking responsibility. Not unique, but yeah, let's just say I don't think Game should be atop of the waiting list.
Andy: Sorry. If you get CY'd then man up and accept it. I did agree, him getting that JC deal veto'd sucked but he didn't do anything worthwhile before that deal and just kept fixing her tampon in every thread after. Come on now. If your crew tried to save you and still couldn't get it done then maybe it's not them or the league. Maybe it's you. Accept that. Please stop informing us about how fine you left the squad or whatever.
7. What GM have you been the most disappointed in the last 3-5 seasons?
JR: It’s a toss up between my podcast buddies. Royal or Ahsan ahhhhh. I’ll go royal. Tanking without his picks is the worst. If he tries to get better he just picks up bad contracts and gets worse. Might be time for him to retire tbh.
Skillz: Greeme. Because I thought he was a better GM than he has shown to be.
Andy: Myself. I feel like I didn't make the correct moves with the Bucks and almost fucked myself up something serious. The Roy deal worked out for me but the moves after were god awful. I sucked and gotta do bettr this time around. Myself aside, greeme. Not sure whats up there but his team is jah like without the ECF trips. Trading West for Roy was pretty rough. idk. Not sure what the plan is there. Losing Salmons for an MLE offer was terrible.
8. Habes put Harden over Steph in his redrafting the lotto article. Who would you choose?
JR: I see why and I’m not mad at him. I’ll go Steph 100:100 though. Spencer is a warriors fan it’s safe to assume he had 100 potential. Harden going to B+ outside in one TC is wild though. Steph gonna be 30 with under 1 topg when it’s all said and dine though.
Skillz: Curry. I share Habes' concerns over too much of Steph's potential going to his passing, but he was created to dominate and I think he eventually will. Harden has just as many statistical weaknesses. If he is Gilbert Arenas with better rebounding, that's probably a good outcome.
Andy: I get why but I'd take Steph. He can potential average 30 ppg with crazy low turnovers and good percentages. Harden being a good rebounder is a very good advantage but you can fill that out elsewhere. Run an outside offense led by Steph and have fun, which it looks like Don is doing.
9. Does Royal make his CY next year?
JR: yes. If you thought Kobe for Shaq and a lotto was bad wait till next offseason.
Skillz: Yes. He's too resourceful and has too many friends to miss it.
Andy: Yeah. I don't think to many GM's would be able to make it with a completely empty roster aside from lotto picks but I'm sure he'll get some Crew Love deals. I'd be interested to see what he plans on doing and what deals are being worked on now. An empty canvas is pretty cool to see but risky as hell in your CY. Even with rookies, you don't know if they'll pan out or not. Wouldn't shock me if he had no rookies on his roster next year (unless he lands Pandemic P)
10. Let’s talk about Ahsan. End on a positive note. How damn great was everything about his dogsitting thread?
JR: ehhh ima pass on this questions don’t wanna get into fake personalities. Although it was nice to see Ahsan occupied and not being his usual self.
Skillz: MORE ASHAN! MORE DOGS! Bring us the BBS dog pound.
Andy: I have love for Ahsan. I don't know him personally but he seems like a real nice guy. Na bro. I'd need cash or vagina for watching that many dogs for a weekend and I love dogs. I wouldn't give up an entire weekend to do you that big of a favor.
