Go to your current job and tell them you're being offered a job/this salary. Is there anything they can do to keep you. You love working here and would consider it if they can help you out. Something like that. Make sure you have the new position in the bag though. lol I would probably just ask for whatever raise gets you to what the new job is offering. Wouldn't try to leverage anything. I'd bet a big company would just ask for his notice if he did that lol

biggest increases in salary/title will always be made by jumping ship. No reason not to do so every three years or so.

Working from home is my literal dream, so that'd be a huge selling point for me.

Well when you spend 6 years at sea for a job, home is pretty much the only place you want to be.

No reason not to do so every three years or so. i don't think this is realistic not saying to be loyal to an institution, but goodwill/trust/security etc are worth a lot and it's brutal to have to try to rebuild that. your comfort at your job is extremely valuable

Working from home is my literal dream, so that'd be a huge selling point for me. im working from home now, until at least September, 2 weeks at home and 1 in the office becasue of covid. Ive been like this since last year of march I think.... I enjoy it. The new job would be from home until they get the new office built.

I hate working from home, but I don't have a young kid There's no socialization, it's terrible. I sleep here, I work here, sometimes eat here. Don't go anywhere. It's kinda like prison if you really think about it. BUT at the same time, it is nice to wake up and work I guess...

I’m not saying asking for more than what the new job is offering, just saying this is the situation but I’d like to stay

It's really destroyed my mental health the past year.

I went to high school with a guy who started mowing lawns to earn money on the weekends, like many of kids do
Turns out he really loved mowing lawns and decided after high school he'd just keep doing it since he could do it more than just weekends.
I found out a few years ago he has a big time landscaping business in Houston now. Capture the dream.

Been working from home for the past 16 months now and we don't see our team going back anytime soon mehhhhhhhh I dont mind it... I defintely work a ton more hours from home.... but I live in a big house in the country side... so I take breaks go walk the dogs, take my laptop go to the porch etc. If I was still living in my small ass apartment in the middle of the city Id be going nuts for sure. but I also consider myself to be a pretty introverted person... so I enjoy being home, my girlfriend is the opposite she hates being home but we make it work lol

I dunno, I don't value the social aspect of work at all. Never have. Even if I hadn't been traumatized by 8 years of separation in the Navy, I've always wanted to work from home.

Even if I hadn't been traumatized by 8 years of separation in the Navy, I've always wanted to work from home. working from home has its benefits... some people arent very productive from home and I understand that... but I am... and Im not going to lie... just like im doing now BBSing while working I goof off sometimes... but I get the job done and Ive had zero complaints about my work at my current job (actually the opposite). I dont need to see people every day to be happy, I see my gf every day thats enough lol and then I have the weekends to hang out.

A remote Friday would be nice Agreed, balance would be best. Like 3 days in office, 2 days from home.
