The thing the Mets need to worry about is- even if they do win the division- that rotation isn't good enough for October right now. At least with the Braves, if Strider comes back for the playoffs, they have 4 guys I'd trust in postseason starts, which works out well for if they were to play 2-3 games in the WC round and then immediately start the division series. But the Mets HAVE to win the division because if you use DeGrom and Scherzer in a WC round, then what are you doing for the division series? bro we have Jake degrom and max. In October you can get them in 2x in a series. Bassit is a stud and walker/ cookie good enough. From there we got mcgill and pederson in the pen. Weve had some struggles recently but pedal to the floor. Max and degrom can go 8/9 and Diaz is the best pitcher in baseball this season |

Completely changes everything for the Mets if they have to use a Bassitt in a game 1 or something. |

Fried, Strider, Wright are clear of him. I guess you could argue him and Wright since they're so close in WAR but you can't argue with Fried or Strider. |

October 7th is game 1 of WC round, that goes through October 9th. Let's say the Mets use DeGrom on the 7th and Scherzer on the 8th. The Division series starts on the 11th. Are you going to bring back DeGrom on 3 days rest in game 1? With his injury history this year- most likely not. If you flip it and throw Scherzer in that first game and DeGrom in that 2nd game, maybe then you bring back Scherzer on 3 days rest because he's Scherzer and he'd pitch on back-to-back days if he could. What makes it even more complicated is if the Mets go to a game 3 in that wild card round. |
